I noticed a small amount of vibration in the canopy of my Ion during the first few flights. Blade tracking is perfect and the vertical and horizontal fins are vibration free. The only thing I found that could be inducing the vibratiobn is the pinion gear on the motor has some runout at the top maybe .010" and about .001" at the bottom. Anyone else noticed this?
Thanks

Yes, I have one that didn't seem to run straight. I never did figure out what was wrong with it...no real visible signs of vibration, just very noisy in flight and it would wear the intermediate gear. I didn't dial indicate it but it sure looked like it was off. Had to buy a new one. Still have the old one and don't know what to do with it.

Hey Chris,
Okay, I'll send it back. I already paid for a replacement so can I exchange for credit, say, towards a new tail gear box?

has there been any word on the new gear boxes and the release date? Im sure with all the hurricanes there's probably a bigger delay.

Took the pinion by to Chris, it had more runout at the base of the gear than any others we tested. Test flown today, no more vibes! Thanks again Chris.

Not a problem Dave, glad I could help. Hope you are enjoying your new heli. Where do you fly by the way?

Chris,
I live in Brevard county (Rockledge) and have been flying at the field in Viera. It's not a very good heli field but the folks there have accepted me flying there without too much hassle. I would really like to fly with more heli people! The plank guys are cool but they don't get into the heli thing! Let me know where you fly locally and I'll make the trip, maybe I can learn something.

Dave,
the Viera field is literally across 95 from my house. I drive to Bithlo (30 minutes) to fly at speed world so I don't have to listen to the shi# from those plankers. Maybe you have a better disposition than I do, b/c I have been nice to them, but am willing to only go so far. I have been told that I'm a little harsh.
Let's get together!
