There are lots of people are waiting with baited breath on Mikados new helis to be shown in Feb. Im curious what do you guys think of using Torque Tubes on Logos if Mikado released such a beast. It seems like theres lots of mixed reactions over on the Align forums about the use of these things.

I guess depending on what material they made the gears of, the quality of the tube itself. If those components are of good quality and the user sets the mesh real well they are maintenence free, your autos will be better due to less friction, you will have slightly more power due to not having to drive the belt as the TT is much more efficient. I loved the TT in my Ion. Tough to say if Mikado has a Tourque Tube coming out in their new design, personally the belt system on the Logo 14 for example grabs a ton of power from the machine and personally I think it does not auto real well due to this and the fact that I feel the auto hub needs improvement. All imho of course, none the less I am very curious what they will be showing and how long it will take for the helis to actually hit the streets for availability. From past releases I bet we don't see them available to purchase till fall or winter of this year. If in fact they made a tourque tube conversion for the Logos I own I would convert in a second, I had one complete loss of a heli due to a belt breaking while aileron tic tocs and totalled the heli, at that moment I hated the belt drive, lol.

Microman,
I don't think I'd really care for a torque tube in my logo. I have found that you can adjust the belt so that there is very little friction actually. The tube has less friction of course but also has other drawbacks that tilt the scale toward the belt. Some that come to mind are weight, wear, vibration concerns and it doesn't help that the torque tube costs more to have and repair. I think the material that the belt is made of is a way better benefit than switching to the torque tube. I noticed in the 600 forum folks complaining about the weight of the torque tube already. That said, I hope mikado does both at least for the 14 because I really like the mikado concept of interchangability and consumer-driven upgrades, for me, this is probably the best thing about owning a Logo.

As long as I can still pre-build a tail boom assembly, and just drop it into the frame, either is fine with me.

I would agree that is one thing i love about the Logos is when you are ready you just slide the tail boom in
