Just bought this GY502 and walk through the settings, this gyro gain function does not seem to work, or I have a problem with the settings ! :arggg:

So in 9xv2 I set the RUDD D/R to control the gyro gain, and put the gyro gain cable into AUX2. Then I go to the TX menu and select pos0=100% and pos1=0%. I turn RX on (init) in pos0. The gyro displays pos0=76% (AVCS) and pos1=84% (Rate, Normal).

- Servo monitor in TX shows correct values for pos0 and pos1
- tried this with two different receivers (RS10DS, RS77S)
- No Subtrim or ATV for the AUX2 (inhibit by JR in this function)
- All gyro settings in factory settings (except high FRate)
- Putting the Gyro gain in Gear and adjust gives exactly same results !
- Furthermore changing the gain in GYRO SENS menu gives :

TX Gain -> Gyro Gain
100% -> 76% (AVCS)
90% -> 60% (A)
80% -> 44% (A)
70% -> 28% (A)
60% -> 12% (A)
53% -> 0% (A/N switch here)
50% -> 4% (Neutral, Rate)
40% -> 20% (N)
30% -> 36% (N)
20% -> 52% (N)
10% -> 68% (N)
0% -> 84% (N)

There is a gyro gain adjustment function for the GY502 as well, but I think those values are too much out of track !!! Any idea what is wrong ???

THANKS THANKS THANKS !!!

The instructions for the gyro sense menu are nuttier than squirrel turds, You are better off INH the gyro menu, and go old school.
I use the same radio/ gyro in two birds with good results.
*Depending* on if you are using a GV-1 or not you can use channel 5 for the gyro gains.
*IF* You are using the GV-1, You need to slave channel 5 to output to channel 7 (AUX3) and plug gain lead into channel 7 in the rx. The 3 position AUX switch over the right stick will override the governor in one position, and on in the other two, while you can select different headspeeds with the flight mode switch by slaving AUX1 to channel 5 output.

I've setup the base setup with 100% ATV and 100% showing on the gyro, set Tx to 63% for first flight and adjust from there. Make certain that the screen on the 501 changes value as you decrease the ATV so you can make changes from the TX.
Changing a value on the 501 decreases the total range of gain overall, meaning that you cant get 100% from the tx.
The ratio between the TX and 501 will NOT be linear if you change the value on the 501, but you can still adjust it.

Thanks a lot Wayne for good advice and quick reply. This JR/Futaba issue sounds very weird to me ....

I will use a revmax, but not yet. So I inhibit the Gyro sens, and plug it into Gear channel (5 I guess), then go to TRVL ADJ, put the rate so, that pos0 is 100% (A) and pos1 is 100% (N) on gyro reading, means my ATV are now +130% to -120%. This is completely weird, I thought PCM pretty much defines servo position, no matter what manufaturer ?? Anyway, adjusting those rates, I can get now 63% TX gain (which shows 46% AVCS gyro gain, because as you say not linear), is that the procedure ?

... and finally also, thinking about my other gyros (490T and GY401) I have, there I cannot even display the real gyro values, because no display ... do you think they get same off the track ?

I prefer to start at 63% on the gyro, and ignore the tx settings unless I cannot get the value I want/need.
63% is middle of the road, and usually will not destroy the heli before you can adjust it, while still holding pretty agressively.
go back to the ATV on TX and reset to 100%, and on gyro press the '+' button to achieve 100% on 501.

Oh understood
- 63% on the gyro side
- use 502 Gyro Gain Adjustment (up to 120%) to get alignment, not ATV.

In this case, I can also use the GYRO SENS again, because those ATVs are fixed at 100/100 - it's just a lot more convenient and does not interfere later with a gov on GEAR, and no mixing needed. Sorry I just like it as simple as possible in the set-up phase.

Although I still cannot reach 100% gain displayed with the 502 (even 120% 502 gyro gain), I also will never use it anyway, and the TX/GY is non-linear in both ways, I just have to get the reading on GY right.

Thanks a lot Wayne !!!
