View Full Version : Logo 10 - How much vibration?

I finally tracked down the electrical ghost which was causing my radio to have a mind of it's own. It was vibration on the Rx. I had it mounted on the top rear with double sided foam and worked fine for about 10 flights. Then all of a sudden I started loosing radio control. I just happened to find it after taking the entire model apart and spooling up and noticed strong vibrations. Took the Rx off and the radio worked perfect.

How much vibration is normal on the Logo 10. I would think barely any being electric. The vibration is present with tail blades off, and no head (main gear and shaft only).

I've padding the Rx as much as possible but still get the occasional un-commanded spike. I'll definitely have to send the Rx off to Futaba to change the filters.

Setup:
Z-power Z-30
R138DP
Jeti 55

You shouldnt have any vibrations, well a little perhaps, but not like a nitro.
Without blades and still get vibrations, then something is wrong.

Check bearrings and shafts and also check gearmesh.

Is it high frequency or low frequency vibration?
(high frequency is most likely to be from belt/tail etc, low frequency and its normally somewhere in the head.

It actually feels like a gear mesh vibe but I've adjusted the mesh 3 times now on the motor and tail. The main gear seems to be pretty true.

I just took the boom completely off and spooled up and the vibe wasn't nearly as bad. The mesh looks a little tight on the tail pulley and I have plastic frames so when I tighten the tail screws down, the screws want to go into there original indentions in the frame which forces the tail pulley into the main gear. I'll have to mill the frame holes out a little to get the screws to find a new comfortable position.

Update: got the mesh perfect now but the vibes are still there. The boom supports are shaking like crazy. This is a brand new build with only about 12 flights on it. I'm at a loss. :dontknow

Thanks Bobby. I think I may have found the source. I have removed and tweaked everything and it looks like it's tail case bearings. I never replaced them when I slung a tail grip so I'm sure that's the cause.

Just replaced the tail case bearings and it's very smooth now. That one had me scratching my head. I also roughed up the outer race and glued them in so they wouldn't move and cause the case to widen out.

I'm ready for my next crash now.
