well for the past few months i have been looking at getting a trex 600 or N9 but after looking into the 600 and N9 more, i'm just going to go for the N9.
This is the setup i want to run, what do ya think.
YS91
Hatori SB-17FH
9255 on Throttle with 5v step down
3x 9351 on swash
GV-1 gov
GY611 w/9256
Fromeco Arizona reg/ peerless 4800 li-ion
Radix 710SB's
Radix 105 tail blades
Radix stubz's
I like radix stuff so they are just a must have even though the stock SAB paddle and tail blades are good. :)
Also a 12z for it but it will take some time to get the money together. :)
Holy cow man, stepping up from a Trex 450 to a N9!!! You're gonna have perma-grin for a month.
Anyway, welcome to club, I'm sure you'll love the N9. There are loads of people around here that are more than willing to help if you need it. Chuckie and 00boto helped me out a lot. Make sure to check out my Lessons Learned post, it may be helpful. This site is also pretty good at giving step by step tips: http://www.heligator.com/synergy/Index.htm

i hope i can get the kit in the next 2 or 3 weeks, and then it will take another few months to get the rest of the stuff together but in that time i will take my time and get it right.

You will need the SB16 Hatori for the YS. The header that comes in the SB 17 only fits the OS 91.
Hatori SB 16

Hatori SB 17

Notice the difference between the two headers. The SB 16 will fit YS and OS. The SB 17 is only for OS.

MICHAEL - Get a new Hatori 937 they have a longer header and tonnes of power... same pipe that nigel brown is using over there..

Look into the 9155s as a heli servo with the same specs as the 9351. Servo lead is longer and they center better, so I hear.
Isn't Nigel using the SB-18 equivalent?

when i talked to Nigel he said to get the SB-17FH with the ys91 as the American Hatori's have a longer header then the Australian ones but if the 937 is the one to get then i will look into it.. If the 9155's are made more for heli use then i will get them.
Cheers,
Michael

I'm going to run the SB17FH as this is what Nigel runs with his YS with no probs. I'm going with his set-up as i know it works well.

Michael,
The SB 17 header fits the OS engine. If you want to run and SB 17 on a YS you will also have to get an SB 16 FH header to go on the engine. Then the SB 17 muffler will fit that header.
Or you will have to modify the SB 17 header to fit the YS. Don't think that will be easy task unless you have access to milling machine.
Look at the links I posted above and you can see the difference between the headers.

Yes the SB-16 for the YS has two holes on each side on the header. So the SB-17 header will not have the inside countersunk mounting holes for the YS. Easy to fix as David says if you have the right tools.

looks like i will need to get the ys header for the SB-17, is there much performance difference between the SB-16 and SB-17. I'm new to nitro heli's so i don't know much about pipes and stuff so thats why i just wanted to run the setup from the local pro. Thanks guys for the help.

I know the SB-16 was specifically designed to work with the YS91. The 17 and 18 were designed for use on OS. I've used the MP2 but recently switched to the SB-16 when I started flying my N9. I like the way the YS runs with the SB16 over the MP2. I run 1950rpm and the YS91 pulls +-13 degrees pitch nicely.
The larger 17 would tune the YS motor to a different rpm for max power compared to the 16. Maybe at 1950 or 16,126 on the motor (8.27 gear ratio (Synergy) X rotor RPM= motor RPM) the 17 would let the motor breath quicker (due to its larger size) but as I have not flow the 17 I'm only guessing what motor rpm is the best for the combo. So if you want to fly 1950 or 2000 rotor then the 17 might be a better choice. If you are starting out I'd recommend 1650 to 1850 rotor rpm. You'll have better flight times and the motor will last longer at these lower rpms.
I'm sure Nigel's having good success with the 17. His flights at IRCHA 2006 were great with the 17. Your choice.

Charles

There is just one thing i need once the N9 is going and that is my car licence.
I have a car but don't have the licence to drive it, time to book the test i think. :)

is there a lot of QC issues with the N9 as this is what i'm noticing in other forums. :thinking

My kit had minor things I had to fix but I never had the issues the guys in the UK had. If you have any problem with the parts Todd will swap them out no problem.
I've built MA machines for years and the N9 was easy to put together. I worked through a few fixes with Todd and have my tips in my RR Gallery.

Its been years since I flew the Vigor, never tired the Vibe. I'd suggest you look at how many people flying each and decide.

i will end up with the N9 i think anyway. I should just get both of them as the more heli's the better....... :)

i don't like the internet because i can look at heli after heli. I want a trex 600 as well now but that will have to be another few months as i can smell the N9 now(this week i hope) :D

i did say i will put the N9 on hold for a few months but it will only be a few weeks. I have been racing at a high level in EP cars for years but still not the same as flying but still fun.
