I used to blend my own fuel, started with the Webra Bully motors about 16 years ago since they consumed over 2ounces/minute. I was only mixing fuel with 5% oil and 5% nitro and there was a real savings to do so.

I blended my own for helicopters for a while even though my fellow fliers said it stunk! I used methanol, oil and nitro from a karting shop and did save some money up to 15% nitro content. I discovered that 30% nitro home brew would not save me any money at all. I did have mostly good results, BUT, the fuel manufacturers do a much better job and more consistently.

Check with your local shop to see if they can order you a case or two of your fuel when they order their next fuel. I'm pretty sure they will do so if you ask. I know that Buzz at Magnum will ship any combination of fuel blends you want so the shops should be able to mix and match a case or two for sure! The other manufacturers may also do the same.

I mix my own fuel, it's cheaper to mix my own then to buy it from my LHS. For Cool Power 30% Heli we pay about $80.00 AUD ($60.80 USD) a gallon (not case). I can mix my own for about $37.00 AUD a gallon. I use 22% Cool Power LV oil, 30% nitro and 48% methanol. It comes out the same as if I buy it pre-mixed, it's just cheaper for me to mix it myself.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Also mixing my own fuel.

15% Klotz oil
20% Nitro
65% Metanol

Almost half the price as CoolPower here in Sweden. :)

HOLY  Patrick...
I think if I had to pay that much...I would try blowing on my blades and hope a stiff breeze helps out.

I mixed my own O% nitro fuel for a while
Used Klotzs oil 10% oil, seemed to work fine with no nitro
Then I went to a gasser
Then I went to electric

I just hate to clean my heli's :D

Used to mix my own for my big supertigre. It was 0% nitro and 12% oil and cost me about $5.00 a gallon, I never found a cheap source of nitro so I have never mixed anything else.

IMHO, the best deal to get cheap fuel is to call Wildcat and get it directly. Jerry will sell it to you if you buy at least 5 cases and the prices are pretty reasonable. I went and picked it up last year and 20% nitro cost me about $13.00/ gal. I'm lazy this year so I'm sure it will cast more to have it shipped but I'm gonna piggyback on our clubs order so shipping won't be that much.

Norvin and Eulace at Mc2Intl used to make their own, but I think it got too expensive.
