TOM ,you are right on with the 11s setup. I have run the actro on 10.45 and it was awesome. I am curently running 10.13 on 10s and with the 1700 to 1750 HS you can get into trouble before you realize it ois time to quit flying. Also I would like to add I ran 12s on 11.89 and it was really good also..........very snapped.

Thanks Clint,

My read on this now is that us Ion-x users that currently have a Neu 1521/1.5f, and want to go 12s, are probably going to have to switch to a lower kv motor like the Actro 32-3 motors in order to avoid main gear and main gear pinion change-outs, and work within the currently available Razor pulley sets.

Guess I'll have to move the neu to the trex600 and the hacker to the Swift. This will probably be a good upgrade for each of these anyway!

Cheers,

Tom C

Hmmm... see a some stuff that I like...

- always wished the Ion could fit a narrower canopy (improved backward performance), now it can :)

- conventional style motor mount for the Actro - haven't had any problems with the current setup, but always prefered the way the Hacker / Nue mounted up

- 1st stage belt drive

Couple of questions...

- can the old style bottom plate still fit (some of us still feel more comfortable seeing it there :) )

- are those 4350 packs in the pictures above.

Thanks
- Rob

It looks like the new ion will have a Stratus head, why change it unless you want a "purdy" tempest head?

I am now flying the production kit. I will have this model flying at the Ham. We are getting close and it does fly great. I am looking forward to the ham. I have the stratus head on mine and an Actro 32-3 with an HV 85 on one and an HV 110 on the other. Hope to see everyone at the Ham.

Clint,

For those like me that Have the SS and 32-3 with 8mm shaft will MA have the pulleys for 8mm ?? I think the Joker pinions are the same mod. than the ones you're using so I don't think it'll be abig deal!!!

Thanks,

epc2.

I will talk to Tim, all of our pulleys are 6mm and I had an 8mm cut down to make a 6mm. I am currently running 2 with 5mm shafts and an adaptor to step up to 6mm. I think they could probably get something in 8mm which wont be bad if you know what ratio you want. The advantage to the 6mm is that when you change ratios, you can use the 6mm on either end. As far as what the Joker stuff has I am not sure. I am sure MA can come up with 8MM if we need to but the production stuff is 6mm.

Will you be at BHAm?

Great, looking forward to the videos.
Does this mean that the IonX2 production kit will have the stratus head?

The X2 will have the Stratus Head but the Tempest head can be added. With the upper cg the head is nice and stable and quick at the same time. BHAm Baby..........

Any news about when we can expect the belt drive upgrade to be ready for the Ion-X?
