Well first day with the Logo 14 was not good.
I had the 15T pinion on the Orbit 30-12 and first hover head speed was WAY too high 2300 to be exact! The stock tail wasnt liking that at all and I was getting major tail kicks. I was warned of this so set her down and worked ont he curves. The Hacker O-heli ESC was strange too.. No matter how I dialed down the top T curve points it just didnt seem to do much. From center stick at 50% to hover at 65% the head went from 1700 to 2200.
So dropped the 14T pinion in and played with the ESC settings. I found setting it for logrithmic throttle solved the curve realation ship issues I was having. Got the head speed at 2050 in ilde up and all was good... Flew the pack taking it easy. Towards the end I got a tail kick again. Hmmm...
Back to the bench. Took the tail grips off inpected everything put it back together.... 2nd pack in and all was looking good... DId some basic stuff like flips loops, etc... This head was real quick! Flew out the pack no issues.
Back to the table and put in 20% expo on cyclic. 3rd pack and I am in the hover and switch to idle up. All of a sudden the tail kicks 180 FAST! I go to adjust and the heli is locked out. Fail safe was set to no throttle and 0 pitch. I was about 5 feet up and she came down slowly but hard enough to break the landing gear and when the heli tipped over it just EXPLODED!
Anyway this is all thats left of her :(
Stripped all 3 servos and thew 9456 tail servo. Broken frames, tail case, landing gear, bent main shaft, bent flybar of course and boom is gone of course. One of the big links in the head broke so the head is fine.
But this is almost a total rekit I think :(

Bob,
Man does that suck, sorry to hear, especially for someone as helpful as you are!!
Too bad there isn't R/C heli insurance?

Thats terrible Bob. Usually fail safe minimizes the damage.
What receiver were you running?

I had fail safe set and was using a DP149. The motor cut, went to 0 pitch and slowly dropped to the ground simi level. The hard landing broke the left landing gear and she tipped over. The minute the blades hit the ground it just exploded! I was only 5 feet up in a hover when it happened... I was kind of suprised at the amount of carnage myself!

That sucks big time Bob, sorry to hear about the incident. :? On the 55 Jazz 75% gets me in the 2240 rpm on 15 tooth. Weird on the Hacker though, should have seen each % point you would think..... :?:

Bob, did you find what cause the lockout? Do you think if you had XPS for your radio, the lockout could have been avoided?

Just watched your little video there Bob, I have to say that is the most damage I ever seen on that heli bar none, I have put in 4 of these so I know what they looked like in that state, only I have never seen the frame break like that in your pics and vid, wow man! :WOW That does suck arse.

Yea... I think it was the way it just caught the grass and twisted up. I have pounded helis way harder and didnt wreck them this bad... This thing just twisted up. :arggg:

Nooooooo, hate to see that happen to any mans heli, let alone a logo. Its funny how some crashes turn out the way they do and others have very little damage done, hope you re-build quickly and get back on the sticks soon.
Sorry to hear about your loss Bob.
It’s an endless battle with this hobby, that’s why its fun.
Let us all know how she flies after the full rebuild. I love happy endings, so make her fly and toss her silly around the sky!

wow MAN this thing is screwed. Rekit I'd say :( Never saw that before on a logo machine and I saw a few BAD impacts but never broke the frames :WOW It seems that everything you do, building the machine or destroing it, you do it right
I'm sorry for your loss

Bob, in your opinion how would a Trex 600 have looked after that crash? Was it one of those crashes that would have destroyed any heli or does the Logo have some weak points?

Sorry about this Bob!!! :(
When I hear about a tail kicking 180 it reminds me about the way my tail behaved when I had static build up in the tail, but I nave never experienced a total lockup like that :dontknow Maybe the crystal came off after the tail kick or something like that? Does the rx work now?

Well I have seen 2 other logos go in before and both broke the frames (not this bad though). One was over pavement at the Buzzin the Border event and another was in a dirt sod field.
I will say the frame is weaker looking that other helis I have owned but that is the purpose, to be LIGHT! I think my Trex600 would have won this crash though. The logo did not go in hard but as Klinger says.... some crashes ytou just cant figure why it eat it so bad and other ywhere you expect total destruction you luck out. As I said this one just GRABBED the grass and twisted itself up.
Lorents... All radio equipment checks out (except the sripped servos). This RX came out of my Vibe 90 and was never crashed before.
I assumed the tail kicking was becasue I was running the STOCK tail hub and grips and Mudbogger warned me about high head speeds and the stock tail kicking like this. Once I got the head speed down the tail did stop kicking or so it seemed. Obviously the kciking was something else...
Oh BTW Lorents it was a very dry day with what are called Santa Ana winds so static build up is a possibility and I was getting static shocks all day from touching people, etc! I have never experienced that on any other belt drive heli before but I have heard of others that have. Hmmm possibility man...
Anyway... rebuild will take some time this time around as I have to order partts and do some other projects first.

Bob,
I assumed that the main gear is ok and not stripped right? If it's stripped then it probably didn't shut down the motor, hence the frame-destroying torque.
Sorry for the loss :(. Are you going to get another?

That Crash was so startling... I was talking with Asian Jay and the thud
scared me, and I rolled back on my back.
By the way you did not replace your divod... The field had a sod of grass
sticking up.
Never saw a Heli Explode before.
What next Bob? DX7 ?
Cheers VietVet

Man, sorry to hear this, that really does suck :(. I have to say that unfortunately, this is the trade-off for such a light weight heli. I've seen several 14's go in and when the frames break (which is very often) it is always along that same plane; the weak spot.

No the main gear is OK but the tail drive gear is stripped.
What next Bob? DX7 ?
XPS for my 14mz as soon as it is out!
