Start of story: I recently caught the RC Heli disease. I first purchased a blade CP, then purchased a Blade CX when I found out how difficult it was to fly the CP. I want to learn how to fly these planes without fear of the crashes. I want to find out what flight sim would be best for me knowing the two planes I currently have.

My ultimate goal is to fly the CX to perfection then move on to the blade CP.

So the question is, knowing that I own these two EFlight RC Helis, what flight simulator would best suit me? Thanks in advance =)

Also, will I be able to practice trimming out the heli with a flight sim? thanks :glasses2:

As I see it there are 3 main contenders in the RC sim market. Realflight G3.5, Reflex XTR and Phoenix. There are certainly others but IMO these are the real simulators.

I've only ever owned Reflex XTR and Phoenix. but FWIW, I'll offer my opinion on all of them. This is a fiercely debated topic on that otheRR forum  My data on G3.5 is from the topics that I've read from G3.5 owners.

All 3 of the above mentioned seem to have good flight physics and also good graphics. So that aside I'll take a look at some other factors.

Power of computer required to run. (Most power required first)

1. Realflight G3.5 (you really need a fairly up to date computer to run this)
2. Reflex XTR
3. Phoenix

Price (Most expensive first - based on UK prices)

1. Realflight G3.5
2. Reflex XTR
3. Phoenix

G3.5 and Reflex may be on a par with each other depending on where you buy, but phoenix is by far the cheapest.

Customer support (Worst to best)

2. Reflex XTR
2. Realflight G3.5
3. Phoenix

There are other factors here that I'm not too sure on how to rate, like extra model and scenery availability. One good (or bad) thing with G3.5 is that it comes with its own transmitter. Some people argue that's it better to learn the feel of your own transmitter when practicing, others say it's just prematurely shortening the life of it.

For me it's Phoenix all the way. Yes it's a young product, but they're fixing bugs and implementing customer feedback almost as soon as it's said. It's also the cheapest as I've already mentioned. I've actually stopped using my copy of Reflex XTR and am thinking of selling it on Ebay.

However, I'm not sure if any of the simulators that I've mentioned have the heli's that you're flying.

Hope this helps in some small way.
