I have recently cracked my tail boom and cant remove it from the frame. I was wondering if anyone knows how to soften crazy glue. I'm also wondering if there is a better way to secure the boom once I replace it, maybe something not quite so permanent.

break it and drill it out, next time use hot glue gun to install.

my boom cracked in the middle in a parallel direction. I wrapped the middle 1/2 or so of the boom very tightly in electrical tape and its holding together superbly... I'm tired of messing with the wires n glueing of the boom, I just wanna fly... hehe.

take black thread and wrap it around the crack then 'thin' c.a. it. Works great and you are flying in 4 minutes and stronger then before. My current tail boom has two repairs that I would've replaced the boom before I found this fix.

Or if you're not married/etc, use acetone. They're one & the same. Acetone is available at pretty much any hardware store, right next to the paint thinner.

use the ca remover(acetone) brush around boom mount in frame let it soak in,twist, push pull boom, repeat as needed, after a bit it should pull out, can be done and not splinter boom

thanks for all the help. I wish I would have read the tip about using thread and ca glue to repair before I snapped the tail boom off in frustration.

I ended up using the fingernail polish remover, but I found brushing it on didn't do the trick, I even tried soaking a piece of paper towel and wrapping the joint, then wrapping it in plastic wrap to prevent it from evaporating, but that didn't cut it. I eventually had to fully submerge the glue joint in acetone (polish remover) and left it for a couple of hours, then I had to twist, flex, bend, and pull it apart. I think next time I will use hot glue, or possibly gel crazy glue, that way it wont soak into the joint and will be much easier to soften and remove.

A hobby heat gun work great. Heat slowly until moderate force will loosen the boom. It takes less than a minute. Don't apply heat directly to any servo wires, but the wires inside the boom will be OK.
