I am a newbie and I have a Blade CX2. I recently crashed it and it began "swirling" in a lazy oval about 4 to 5 feet wide and yawing slightly to the right. I discovered that I had broken the lower rotor head pin on on blade end. I replaced the lower rotor head with aluminum part from Micro Heli. I had originally purchased it with the alum upper rotr head. I also replaced the swashplate with the alum Micro Heli part. I also installed the alum balde grips, but only on the lower rotor because I could not get the upper one anywhere. The heli still flys the same as when I had the broken lower rotor head. I have straightened the flybar and all seems in orfer, but still "swirls" slowly to the right. The swashplate did not seem level when installed, so I attempted to level it by adjusting the servo arm lengths. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, I'm hooked and am planning to build a T-rex 450. I am looking at the Spektrum DX-7. I was also going to get the sim FS-One. Any thoughts?

good plan, get the sim first, then the T-Rex/Dx7,
On the swirl it sounds like you've done all the obvious stuff, check for bent shafts..inner/outer. Typically the "toilet bowl effect" is caused by broken pins, bent flybar, bent shafts..etc. It could also be damaged blades. I've changed blades and had things work better.

Jermo,

Thanks. I did remove the alum swashplate and blade grips. I went back to stock blades, but left on the new alum rotor head and seems to be fine. I will add back the swashplate and test again, then add the blade grips and see what happens. Thanks again.

I had a crazy wobble with the occasional toilette bowl effect. I found out it was coming from my top blades. I knew one blade was new, so I changed the other and voila! The wobble is now gone... thank goodness :arggg:

I wouldn't get the FSone. For the money you can get a much better sim. Plus it takes up over 4gigs on your HD!!!
I got it after getting my blade CPP, but I never fly that heli anymore. So dont get it just because it has a BCX on it. The Voyager50 and the Vibe90 are the only helis I fly on FS1. No big electrics. They got and E-voyager, but its got no power at all.
I fly my BCX2 all the time in my house. Just for fun ;)

As far as a simulator goes, I can't say enough about ClearView. http://rcflightsim.com/index.html

It's only $30 and looks really good. There's even a Blade CX!

I downloaded the demo to see how it worked on my system and it worked very well so I bought it.

There's also a link on their site where you can get a USB 'transmitter' from ebay for about $30 'buy-it-now'. Thats what I did.

I'm happy with the sim and the box and it only cost me sixty bucks!

One day too late with the advice. A guy at my LHS had purchased it and then decided to put the money toward a new plane, so he was selling it for $140. I thought it was too good a deal to pass on. I'm sure it will suit me fine. Thanks.

FS One is a great sim. I just couldn't justify spending more for it than I did for my CX2. :!:

FS-1 has saved me many many crashes, ie.$$$. I know its expensive but the quality is great, and many entry level helis and planes (planks?) are modelled very well. So the $$ equation I think works out IF you fly it seriously...ie. as if crashes cost a lot.

I consider it a crucial part of my fleet.

If you just fly CX/2, don't need a sim. But anything else, it will pay for itself real fast!
