i don't have a G3, won't get one in the near future, do have a fun blade cp pro that i can almost invert hover now.

ok, here's the thing. on a G3 demo with the impala 30 heli, after you've killed the engine, no matter how high you are, the blades will keep on spining until a few seconds after the heli landed. and that altitude doesn't matter. and also, i found that even when you cut your engine at a very high altitude ie 2000 ft, and give full positive pitch, the heli will still decend and land safely given the landing angle is good.

is it the same on real version of G3?

nope totally different, if you keep full positive pitch in an AR you will crash 100%, you will also lose heaspeed such that you can't recover past a certain point..

That said... if you AR in idle up mode, center stick (or slightly below center) then gradually pitch up when you near the ground you WILL flare and be able to land safely. The demo probably has the bird in crashless mode.

yes, i understand that keeping full ptich in an autorotation will result in a crash, just wondering why would G3 demo be that way, does the real G3 do the same? just out of curiousity.

Huh... this is a little disappointing... I'm using the release 3.5, and I can put full collective in at the top of an auto and the helicopter will gently drift all the way down to the ground. This doesn't seem right at all... Explains my great success rate with autos though, I guess!! Specifically I'm using the Impala, because I wanted to use the model with the least rotor inertia. I wonder what happens with the other birds...

Is something that will be addressed in future updates? I have whatever the latest update is downloaded via the 'launcher'... Ironically I picked up this sim because the auto behavior in fsone didn't feel right to me...

??? mine doesn't do that. I have 3.5 with the latest updates. Check your settings and ensure you dont' have the sim in protect mode or something... I can crash in a blink doing auto's on my RF 3.5. I have the full version with the external controller.

I can crash too, but as long as I kill the forward velocity and land level, I can bring the bird down from an arbitrary height with full collective the whole way... I'll go through my settings to be sure there's not something strange set, but all the physics is set to 'most realistic' or whatever they call it, which is one notch up from the default (heli physics defaults to one step less than 'most realistic.') If I have time I'll try to get a recording of it tonight.

ya, that's what i'm saying, you can crash, but as long as you land level and keep full pitch all the way down, you won't crash...

nope..doesn't happen on mine.. :dontknow

I saved a recording, I'm not sure where or how to upload it though. I can't for the life of me imagine why this would be... Watching the rotor speed, it's at 1800 or so in idle up. When I hit the throttle hold and apply full collective it decays as you would imagine it would, but it stabilizes at around 900rpm, and the resultant rate of decent is low enough just to float down to the ground. As long as you land flat w/ 0 velocity, the helo absolutely won't break autoing down from an arbitrary altitude with full collective the whole way.

Edit: physics are set to 'highest,' I've got the latest full version (3.50.044). I've posted on the knife edge forum, maybe someone there will have an idea.
