I just recieved my 4000 Mah Li-ion for my Tempest and I also have the Duralite charger but I would like to use my Triton if possible. I have heard different opinions about using the Triton some say it works and others say it will damage the battery. The reason I like to use the Triton is I get the amount of Mah I charged into the battery and I can charge it faster if I needed it fast.

I have heard mixed blessings on the Triton with Duralites. I would personally use the Duralite system. Of course, using the Triton for the Duralites will void the warranty. A faster charge rate IS NOT the way to go with the Lithium technology batteries.

Jimmy,
The Triton will charge the Duralites, but you really are not going to be able to charge the batteries any faster with the Triton. The Duralite's have the Charge Safe circuit. That circuit will only allow so much current to pass thru it without shutting off. The Duralite charger will charge the batteries just about as much as the Charge Safe circuit will allow.
If you also have the Duralite Charger I don't know why you would want to use the Triton charger. I personally have not been able to run the batteries down enough to need recharging in one day. When I first got the batteries and was testing there limits it took me two days and two gallons of fuel to see how many flights I could get on the batteries.

If that is the case then I will just keep using the Duralites charger. I did not realize it will last this long on one charge. I am used to the Nimh losing their charge quick especially if left unused for a day or two.
David,
You get two gallons of fuel on your Fury?? I have a GY601/ GV1 / Digital servos (S9252's) I hope that you have the same setup. That is awesome if it can do 2 gallons of fuel on one charge.
Hopefully the Hurricane leaves us alone and I can go test fly it tomorrow  Thanks

Jimmy,
I can get on the average of about 12 flights on Tempest with all digitals. I have the 4000 mah packs. Tempest holds about 21 ozs of fuel including the header tank, so that is only 6 flights from a gallon. I fly the batteries till the voltage is about 6.7 with a 1 amp load.

I am running Li-Ions from www.fromeco.org they are $60 cheaper than the Duralites. I am running a 4400 mah pack. I also get about 12 flights, although I've only done 9 flights in one day. The voltage under a 1 amp load was 7.02. Their no fly voltage is 6.5 to 6.9 so I am sure I can get 12 flights.
I use a Triton charger to charge them with no problems. They do come with charge safe circuitry, it's called a brain :) ..
Also they have excellent customer service.

Jeff I think it is good to hear of other products and oppinions. I think we all have Brains but sometimes we do make mistakes...........yes even electric GOO-RUES have made mistakes and I will not name any names because it is not important but one of the BEST guys in the business and I really mean this as he is on the leading edge of technollogy and he burned up an airplane , all the Batteries ( 1/4 or 1/3 scale $$$$$) and even burned up the charger......... ...........he made a programing mistake and he certainly knows what he is doing as he wrote the book. Nothing wrong with sving money but a charge safe circuit would have really been nice. The balance circuit also helps to detect a problem with a pack before you have one and it also helps to keep the pack operating at peak performance. Now I am a rep for Duralite but I fly their products because I want to. I am in no way knocking you for not flying them but for me saving $60 and not having piece of mind , I could make a mistake that would far outway any $60 savings ........ I just dont want guys to take the balance circuit or the charge safe circuit litely. I again am not saying Duralites are the only way to go but they are the only way for Me. Guys what ever you choose to fly , just be safe, I like having you all around!!!!!!!!!!
