I went with the Mini Titan due to reading all the forums I could find and talking to a dozen of LHS who have flow everything they carry.
The name doesn't hurt either.

I picked up the kit for $167.
The kit does not include any electronics.

Also picked up the following so far :
Thunder Power 40A Brushless ESC
Align 430L Brushless Motor
Berg 7P Seven Channel Programmable RX

I already had a Hitec Prism 7X TX.

All I need now is a Futaba GY401 w/ SMM Gyro, LiPo, and the JR Performance Mini Heli ServoSet http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=101559.

Ok.
Finally got my lipo and charger today!
Those were my last parts... (I think)
Having issues with the electronics.

Berg7p
Berg xtal (ch 30, 72mhz)
Hitec Prism 7x (ch 30, 72mhz)

Berg7p LED is steady on, suggests TX not found on channel 30.
Verified xtal channel & mhz.
Verified tx channel & mhz.
TX works fine with other planes and such in the past.
Set to PPM.
Set to positive.

Mini Titan book says :
1 throttle
2 aileron
3 elevator
4 rudder
5 ch5
6 aux 1
7 aux 2

Hitec Prism7x manual says on one page :
1 aileron
2 elevator
3 throttle
4 rudder
5 Gear (ch5)
6 Aux 1
7 Aux 2

Then on the next page shows a diagram showing :
1 throttle (esc)
2 aux 2
3 aux 1
4 servo
5 servo
6 servo
7 servo

Got the heli to have a spaz attack  (thankfully I remembered to take the blades off!!!!! and it still jumped off the table at me.)
Thank you to whomever posted that gruesome photo of the guy who didn't.

:D but now when I try it, it does not respond.

ESC is steady beep...... beep..... must need to be charged.
I'll try charging the lipo.

Wasn't it like 900 stitches two black eyes?

It did the trick.

Ok.
Having trouble because my Prism 7x does not seem to be set up correctly.

When I push up on the throttle axis, all three swashplate servos are supposed to go up and visa versa.

There is no reaction from the servos when I push up or down on the throttle axis.
The motor does react properly though.

Ok.
Went out and bought Spektrum DX7.

COOL TX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trimming out; already went through a set of blades (already had bought a spare, a MUST DO).

Charging up TX.

Berg 7p and servos that came with DX7 will be stored for the next beast I piece together.

Pictures to come when first hovering.

I'm taking the slow road to enjoy my first and attempting to make my mistakes now.

Hit the 1K mark for total purchases for this heli with the radio.

And loving every bit of it..... :D

Haven't been timing my flight attempt or trim-out sessions!!!

That's what that timer function in the sweet Spektrum TX is for... :arggg:

My lipo is now 9.8v. Thunder Power says do not let it get below 9.9v or it is no longer any good.
No puffing, no heat from the pack.
My intelligent align charger will charge it if I reset the low voltage cutoff to below 9.8 but I'm not sure if that is safe.

Did I learn another hard lesson and have to go get another LiPo?

Note to self, buy two...

Also, my Thunder Power 40a ESC is supposed to beep when the voltage starts to get low. It didn't!! :(

On a positive note, before I over discharged the battery I did get half an inch off the ground before it started to roll to the left and I cut the throttle... :D

Still some more trimming out to do.

So close and yet not quite....

Helps if I RTFM.

"To program esc via TX stick commands....."
"To program your gy401......"

If you dont set the low voltage warning in the ESC, then it won't beep for you when it gets low! :arggg:

That was a nice $70 lesson.

I have figured out what appears to be the correct wiring between the Thunder Power 2200mAh 11.1v 3-cell and the Align 4-pin connector that fits the Align RCC-6SX charger/balancer...

TP : Align
Black : Black
White : Brown
Blue : White
Orange : Red

My 2200mAh 11.1v 3-cell is now charging like a champ.

I think I might have toasted the other one because it charges for a little bit and tells me wiring disconnection. At least I have one.
