Does anyone know if the ar7000 is compatavble with the telemetry of the dx8.It has a bind-data port on it.Has any one tried it.The ar8000 that came came with the dx8 seems to be defective.:cheers

Yes it is.... Here is the supported list of RX's right from the TM1000 module manual.
Spektrum’s TM1000 telemetry module is compatible with all Spektrum™ and JRŽ receivers that have a Data (Flight Log) port including:
Spektrum
• AR6255 • AR7000 • AR7100
• AR7100R • AR7600 • AR8000
• AR9000 • AR9100 • AR9200
• AR9300 • AR12000 • AR12100
JR
• R921
• R922
• R1221
• R1222

I feel privilaged that you yourself responded to my question.by the the way my friend and I saw you last year at Ircha I should have introduced myself but were headed to get some parts. Not to change the thread but have you heard any issues with ar8000's.I installed one in my friends 600esp along with a beastx and it would not power the beastx properly.even with all interconnect cables plugged in, it would power it but as soon as you plug even one cyclic servo it would make the beastx go into a low voltage where all the lights on the beastx would go dim and flicker and then reset. As soon as we reinstalled the ar7000 everything worked as it should.I'm no electronics expert but I suspect maybe a power bus problem in the ar8000.Any thoughts:thumbup:

I don't believe the early (pre-2008) AR7000s had support for the Data Logger, which I think is needed for telemetry. I bought my first AR7000 right after they added support; prior to that, I think it was only available on the AR9000 and maybe a few other select receivers.

Interesting about your AR8000 RX. There was a thread here recently about a guy that had a new AR6110e with the same problem. Something was wrong with it and a new RX fixed it. So my guess is you got a bad RX there. I doubt it is a overall problem with the AR8000 and you just got unlucky with a bad one.
The Bum, all my AR7000's have the data port. Are you suggesting older code in older AR7000's is the problem? If so then you could probably send in the AR7000 for a code update. I would ask Spektrum to be sure though.

I just remember the guys at my LHS being somewhat excited about having a data port on the AR7000 to bring it on a par with the AR9000. There was also a sticker on the packaging of the one I bought that touted the addition of the data port.

Hmmm interesting. Although I do remember the AR7000 had been out a while before I got my first one. You would think Spektrum would say something about early AR7000's.

I've had an AR7000 for a long time now, and for the best of my ability to see it does not have a data port as such. However, when I look at pictures of the new AR7000 it seems to me that where mine shows the word BATT, to denote the horizontal bottom battery port, the new ones say BATT/DATA in this same place. Perhaps this does confirm that physically it does have the capability, and would need only a firmware upgrade to enable the feature.
As I say, all I can see is an extra word printed on the newer ones. Did anyone ever get to the bottom of exactly what the difference is between the old and the new versions?
Thanks in advance.
