Hi all,
I just purchased my first RC Heli (the cx2) last week. I am REALLY a rookie at this....

After a few hours of flying I hit the dirt pretty hard and broke my swashplate.

I got a new swashplate (not aluminum or anything just a replacement) and I am trying to put it on. I am following the Blade CP Repair Guide. (http://www.bladecprepair.com/man_mr_swashplate.html#adjustment)

I'm nervous doing it because I don't really know the helicopter yet.

I'm referencing this picture but it doesn't really tell me how to take the top blade off. Once I get to the point in this picture I'll be fine but the how-to guide assumes I know how to get to this point:

http://www.bladecprepair.com/images/full/swashplate_lube_full.jpg

I have unscrewed the lower rotor head thinking that I wouldn't have to take the top off but it doesn't seem to be working.

Can someone show me the way to take the assebly on the top off? I would REALLY appreciate it. The more info I have here the better.

Thanks for any answers....

Jim

There is a small pin that goes through the head and through the shaft, take it out and the head will come off after you remove the links

OK, I'm sorry for the stupid question, but how do you guys put pictures in the middle of your post?

Sorry to be off topic but I thought that was a well placed picture.

Also, I am not sure if this helps but I have found after every single crash I have trouble taking off the head. I have stripped many servo's forcing it off. I have now learned patience and after removing the pin holding the top on I (as gentle as possible) take the head off then I need to spend a few min with a file filing the main shaft so it slides out smoothly.

Not sure if this helps but it may be part of your question.

Thanks,

-Craig

I am looking hard for a pin but don't see one... The documents im looking at are for a cx not a cx2. Is there a pin on the CX2?

I'm staring at it but don't see a pin. Where do I look?

Thanks...

Ok now you have me confused. You show a picture of a blade CP, but want advice on the blade CX? Which heli are you having trouble with? CP or CX?? The cx is super easy to take the head off, just take the 2 little screws out of the bottom gear , slide the gear off the bottom, and the whole head and shaft will slide right out the top.

I have a CX2.

Oh. So I'm actually going to be working on the underside of the CX2.

Forgive me if the picture is not the right one. I got it off a website. (I thought it said it was a CX.)

I'm REALLY new to this so I appeciate your patience.

I'll give what you said a whirl.

Thanks again.

First use the "Reply" not "Quick Reply", this will offer add an attatchment feature. You can then "Browse" to your photo, add a comment, then click add attachment.

This is probably a little after the fact, but I figure it's still worth a reply. The picture you posted is indeed a CP, but no worries.

In response to your earlier question, follow carlo's advice with regards to taking the gear off the bottom. Remove the two screws from the lower main gear, and the upper head and shaft will slide out of the top of the heli. From there, pull the plastic bearing holder and bearing off the top of the outer shaft.

Now you're ready to remove the lower rotor head, but be sure to first mark its position on the outer shaft with a Sharpie or other felt marker. This will greatly help in reassembly. Loosen the two set screws on the lower shaft (you don't need to remove them) and slide the lower rotor head off the top of the outer shaft. You now have access to your swash plate.

On a side note, how is your swash plate broken? If it has separated into two halves, it is easy to repair. If one of the ball links has broken off, you'll need a new unit.
