No the Super Brain 977 does not balance charge. You could use it with a balancer but it doesn’t seem to work well with mine.

I have a Poly charger, Groupner Astromat 12 (~$100) chargers, and LBA6 and LBA10 balancers. The Poly charger charges 4 batteries at once but doesn’t peak charge very high and has no adjustment for that. My Groupner is very accurate and charges to 3.2v per cell very precisely but balancing is left to what ever you chose separately. Sounds very much like the Triton. It can charge, discharge, and do all different types of batteries. I charged at the specified amp setting within a .01 of an amp or so up to 3.19 to 3.20 volts and holds that voltage as it amps down and peaks at .2 amps on a 3 cell Lipo.

I got the Super Brain 977. Nice idea to be able to charge from house current and 12v.

I don’t like the 977 and wouldn't recommend one. I overcharged an old TP 2100. It may have been my fault the first time and I overcharged that battery and it was still going to continue on had I not stopped it. I was not in the correct charge mode for LiPo I think or it droped out of that mode. The charger requires you to connect the bat and press buttons in rigid order, doesn't show more than one bit of information at a time, doesn't seem to be very accurate, and (when in the correct mode if you can keep it there) charges to less then 3.2 volts per cell. If you don't connect, select number of cells in the correct order, and see the "LiPo" on the screen you are not in the LiPo charge mode. Then next time you have to do it all over again because it loses the settings on disconnect from the battery. It also doesn't seem to work very well with my LBA6 or LBA10 balancer. I think the balancer disconnects and may be causing it to drop out of LiPo mode. I was checking charge info and found it out of LiPo mode again. I didn't like it so tried to take it back. The LHS wouldn't take it back after less than an hour of use. It was $99. I should have saved the money and bought the TP 1010. After trying it a couple more times I puffed 2 cells. I would have to do more testing on it to be sure what is going on and to gain trust in it but I don't think I want too. I haven't used it since.

Also MRC has had a lot of complaints on their previous chargers (the 966) in respect to charging Lipo’s.

From what I have seen I like the Thunder Power 1010C with 210 balancer mentioned above. It seems to work well with its combination of charger and balancer with feed back to the charger so you can see balance information, individual cell info, capacity (mah), etc. You could use the 210 balancer with another charger but it wouldn’t give you all the information it gives to the 1010. The combination about $300. I think the LBA10 balancer and some others can do that but you need to connect to a computer. This is more adjustable then my Groupner and I need another charger anyway. I won’t be using the MRC charger anymore for Lipos.

Here is another post about it with mixed reviews.

You could do a search on it as well.

Have you seen the thread right here on other chargers.
