I just got some spare parts from Tower H. for my new Swift. They must have been out of 550mm blades because they sent a Raven/Hawk .30 crash kit that had 550 mm blades in it. The flybar is the same as Swift but main shaft and Feathering spindle aren't. The kit also had the boom which is about 1-1/2 inches longer than the Swift's. Has anyone stretched theirs using this part? Got part numbers for belt etc.? Now how large are your main blades? 600? What motor/pinion/bat?

Hey,

The Swift tail boom is a different diameter I think and so the Hawk boom will not fit. I seem to remember being told this after looking longingly at the nicely anodized booms available for the Hawk and wanting to fit one to my Swift.

Also the tail belt as you know will need to be longer, the Hawk boom length I think will be different to say the soon to be released Swift 550 & 620 models. Hence this will not work to.

Blade length shouldn't be a problem even for the stock Swift. Although if I was to run 550mm main blades I'd personally fit the metal head block as well.

If you got charged for the spares pack then my best advice would be to return it as it is totally wrong for the Swift anyway and ask for the proper pack. But if they let you have it for the cost of stock Swift blades then keep it.

Coolice, Yeah they sent it in place of the longer blades alone. They must have been out of blades.

Coolice, I put the caliper on the boom tubes. Swift is 20mm and the Raven/Hawk SE crash kit has a 20mm boom also just longer. A longer belt would be easy to get from Stock Drive Products. I built a little heli I call the Blade3D with gearbelt pulleys and a custom belt from there. It had Blade CP plastic tower with servos and bearings and head, Night Ranger 3D brushless conv. motor and speed ctrl. TREX tailboom and T.Rotor and idler pulleys from LHS to some large heli. Small , quiet and it had a real tail rotor! Oh yeah fast.

Guess I was just musing on stretching for right now. Maiden flight of the Swift earlier today SWEEEEET. This was an ARF package Hacker A30-8xl and FP 3700. It is marginally tail heavy right now. With a front mount camera the longer boom would work especially with a larger motor and battery setup.

Hey,

Ah ha thats good to know, I will look into this further as I could have sworn I was told Hawk and Swift booms are different sizes.
I like the look of the anodized booms myself, would set the Swift off a treat :D

Yes, you can purchase all the parts needed to make your own conversion. However the parts will soon be available and unless you can get the belt cheaper than say Century's replacement parts costs then I'd wait until Century do release their own.
No doubt it will be a nice conversion though and worth the effort involved.
