Does anybody know if the dx7 uses a battery or flash memory for memory backup ? I hope it's not a battery. :dontknow

Depends on what part of the memory you are referring to. The main program is permanently held in the microcontroller. I don't know about the parameters but I'd imagine they are held in a battery maintained memory space.

Let me try to clarify. My older JR had a liththium battery on the board to keep power to the memory settings. Just like a motherboard in a computer. My Futaba 7hcp has no internal battery. It uses flash. So you never have to worry about a battery going dead and losing the program. I read the manual on the dx7 online, and it really didn't specify.

:dontknow sorry. I've not seen a battery in anything I've found on the web. I'd guess it uses flash but that's only a guess.

not to scare you off, but mine crasched the flash memory ten minutes after i started it the first time. i wasn't too happy then, but now it's on it's way back back home from repairs so hopefully i'll get to fly with it this weekend. gotta love that radio, it's sweet.
