My Raptor 50 main gear isn't spinning freely from the auto rotation gear is this supposed to be like this? the plastic covering the auto rotation bearing case on the main-gear is very tight!
hope my explanation is understandable (probably not) :dontknow
thankful for any kind of help at all.

Please define "freely". It's not one of those bearings that just spins at the flick of your fingers. The Sprague unit has a bunch of long needle bearings inside and it has to be greased before flight.
If you hold one of the gears, you should be able to turn the other smoothly off the heli, but you won't be able to "spin" it until you mount the rotor head and get some inertia working for you.

the heli is assembled, it's not the one way bearing that is causing the trouble, its the auto rotation gear, or maybe belt pulley is a more accurate word, (the white gear) surrounding the alu casing that holds the main gear and the one way bearing.
It won't let the main gear spin freely in an auto-rotation, the thing is I have never tried an auto and I will not do so until I know this isn't something to worry about.
Hope this clear things up. :? :D

Ok here's an easy way to put it!
If I spin the head in direction of travel (the one way isn't locking) should the main gear and the clutch-bell spin as well due to the friction between the gears?? :glasses2:

In my R60 if you spin the head, both spurs spin together, but as soon as you put light pressure with your finger on the main spur gear you can easily stoped letting only the tail spur gear rotating with the head/tail. And I've been told this is normal.
I've done few autos and never had a problem.

Thanks for the info. On all three of my "little" Raptors, if I use my forefinger and spin the main blades in the regular direction, my main spur gear does NOT turn. On one of my old 30 machines, the gears were tight at first, but loosened up after a couple of flights and all was well after that.
If this was my machine, I would pull the main gear and check it out. Just takes a couple of minutes and you could be assured that the unit was put together correctly.
On my big R-90, the main gear does turn. But if I rest my thumb against it, it stops and the head keeps turning (as mentioned above).
Hope this helps,
Ron

I found out that if I don't tighten the one way clutch reinforced ring too much around the one way this also helps a bit to loosen the friction between them a bit.

White gear on my turns with the main rotor,, If i spin main blades the tail blades will also spin ,, both directions . If I grab the head and hold it my tail blades will not turn ...unless my belt is loooooose
The upper gear will slip one direction only if turning head

If the lower jesus bolt is too tight it will distort the white gear, also dont use any grease in the auto unit, lube it with either triflow or atf (tranny fluid)
