I have just become interested in heli's after flying 3d glow and foamie planes now for about 3 years. I am trying to get my 9C(a) setup for use with Reflex XTR and cannot for the life of me figure out the channel assignments. If I assign throttle to the left stick the heli does nothing, it seems the pitch (whatever that is) controls the throttle, or at least brings the heli off the ground?

Like I said, all I have known are planes! thanks.

Hello -
I too am a 'newbie' and purchased XTR a couple of weeks ago. I have a T9CP and the following works for me.

Model set to SWH1 defaults an channels assigned thus:

I hope it helps... :)

Thanks Thommohawk, that helps.
Can you explain to me the difference between pitch and throttle and how they are connected? I ended up setting the pitch on the left stick (what I normally use as throttle for planes) and assigned the throttle to one of the knobs at the top of the 9c. It seems that the pitch is what gets the heli off the ground, not throttle. As u can see I am completely green at all of this!

palouse, the thing your missing is that when your transmitter is in heli mode it controls the throttle and pitch from the left stick. How it does this is controlled by the throttle and pitch curves and also the swash type.

If you haven't already, you want to create a new model in the tx specifically for reflex. You may even want to have 2, 1 for air and 1 for heli. For the heli, make sure swash type is sw-1 and the modulation is set to ppm. Contrary to thommohawks post, you want throttle to be assigned to channel 3. Once you get this far, you should have something workable, but with the whole universe of heli programming options to explore, so keep reading d'freak and 9C manual.

Let us know if you need more help.

I realized after my last post that I didn't answer this part. Think of the main rotor as a variable pitch prop on an airplane. The collective pitch on the heli (controlled by the so-called "pitch curve" in the tx) is like a pitch control for the prop. And, you already know what throttle is, but the difference on the tx in heli mode is that it is controlled by the "throttle curve". Using these 2 curves you in essence define what the collective pitch and throttle settings are for any position of the left-hand stick.

hey Thommohawk iv got a 7CHP and the settings are the same but i think
your throttle is in the wrong spot its ment to be in CH-3 because the way you
have it reflex will mix up your throttle and pitch curves i had that problem
till i worked it out throttle goes in to ch-3 on your RX its the same for the
reflex when you change curves you will notice it......................

guys, i just got my 9CHP with Reflex. but then when i start reflex and it starts calibration, it says no signal for all channels. i have already tried choosing a new model with SWH-1, its still the same. so when i check the channel display, all channels are popping left and right even though i m not touching anything from it.

oh btw, i can't use the refex CD that comes with the kit as my pc hang right after i pop into cd rom, so i have downloaded another copy off Bittorrent of V5.00.6 can this be the cause of the problem? help help.

Do you have your sticks at middle and your Gyro gain set at 50% for both modes

Are you using PPM modulation? If you use PCM, Reflex won't be able to read
the signals from your TX. In order to change your modulation, follow these steps:

1) Press Mode Button and Enter Program mode
2) On the Basic panel, scrol down to PARAMETER and Press ENTER
3) Scrol down to MODUL, and change PCM to PPM
4) Press END Button twice
5) Turn off

Next time you turn on your TX, modulation will be PPM.

Remember that you need to first turn off your TX and then turn it on again to
activate modulation change. I always turn on my TX and change the model
to the one I use for Reflex and turn it off, and then plug the USB cable to my
TX. Don't forget to change modulation before you use PCM receivers.
