Well it wasnt as good as bob's but it sure wasnt pretty. By tail belt broke again (2nd in as many months) and this time i was doing some flips in FF and well it speared in pretty hard. Frames damaged although will try repairing, blades, flybar, links, boom, gear, battery tray, shafts, canopy (arghh) etc, biggest re-build i've had to date. Battery is a little dented although it looks ok and will watch it's next few cycles carefully. Its not nice but everyone was saying how well it was flying up till then and i was pushing the envelope and having a hell of a good time.
question is, i'm loosing faith in the extended boom with the black belt as it seems to slap in the boom (although it seems tight enough) and both my breaks were with these black belts. The original orange ones seem much tougher and is whats going back on but i havent seen them available in the strecthed boom lenght. Anyone have similar thoughts or issues?
I'll try and post a pic of the mess when i get it.

Bummer to hear that mate. Funny thing is that I never broke one belt in flight, black one. Only in a crash.. Important that you get rid of any lubricants/graphite sprays or whatever you've maybe used before on it, might damage the belt (on some others it did fer sure)
I keep them really tight, almost like a guitar string, it skips here and there, but they hold up fine :glasses2:

Danny is 100% correct, not sure if you were using any lube, but I know lubing the belt screwed me, and I learned the hard way to. I had a belt go right in the middle of one of my best aileron tic tocs sessions yet. With no time to recover or gain control I pretty much totalled the heli, about 30 bucks shy of a complete rekit. Bulk of the story was I had been using Super O Lube on my belts worried about lockouts due to static etc and I am pretty convinced it was the lube that led to the belt breaking as I had less than 50 flights on it. I really feel your pain been there done that, learn and move on,,, it sucks for sure but it happens to all of us.
BTW the newest L20 "stretched" black belts are 6mm in width, was the one you just had on a 6mm one? The original one only a year ago is only 4mm in width and Mikado sneaked in a upgrade to the belt width and strength with same part #.

Yeah no lube at all on this one and it was a 5mm one. My new spare is a 6mm one. I too had a lucky escape only a month ago with a belt breaking that i was lubing with silicon spray. Got of very lightly on that one but you always cant get lucky.
Moving on, re-build going well and probably looks like i'kk be only waiting on the canopy supports to arrive to re-launch her, straight back into piro rainbows which are working out well
Bummer about the crash! Hope you get her back together and head back out to fly!

45-10 on 14S  . I'd think that would almost explode  . I think the hottest tango setups are 45-07 or 08 on 10S.
