All right,

I have started in the heli hobby. I have a blade CP that I am flying pretty well and I have purchased a T-Rex 450 as my first real choper. I have an 8103 I purchased a while back and I am starting to read the manual and probably practice setting it by going seperates on my blade as I build/fund my T-Rex project...now on to my question.

I see the programming on the radio has heli setups etc. However when I look at the pictures in the manual for a heli radio mine is physiacly laid out differently (like the airplane pictures). I don't have the radio in front of me but the pictures in the manual show a knob where I have a switch etc. Seem to be pretty minor and a programmable radio should allow me to get around any issues..right?

Does this make sense? It seems my 8103 has all the airplane labes on switches and knows and no heli lables...also there seem to be switches where knobs should be (according to the manual). I bought the radio uses so did I goof? Sorry to be such a nube...it hurts beleive me.

All 8103's have airplane, heli, and glider software and can be set to any of the three.

Heli radios have a slightly different switch layout and no "clicky" on the throttle stick. I prefer the heli radio, even for flying air or glider... but that's personal pref. Your radio will work fine for heli, and you can take the back off and slip a piece of fuel tubing over the metal thingie on the throttle to remove the clicky-ness.

8103 works wonderful! And mine has the airplane lay out as well.

Thanks...I appreciate the info. I knew it had the heli software in it becuase I've been poking around, just didn't know if there were any gotcha's due to the difference in layout.

Cool...can't wait to use it.
