Still waiting on tax returns(since I feel guilty of starting the THIRD 'winter project), but I have the Aeolus CF airframe built up and ready. I'm thinking this for a lean setup, as I'm more of a big sky aerobatic kind of flier with a few 3D things strewn here and there.

-OS.50 hyper/outrage pipe from the helidirect combo package
-AR7100R with the upgraded sensor bracket
-3xDS610's running on full 2S voltage
-GY520(maybe a Quark) with DS650 on the tail regulated at 5.5V
-'something' on the throttle, either with a step down or just a DS620. With a spring return for safety.
-Switch glo
-2s 2100lipo
-Fusuno Sunset lid: http://fusuno.com/product_info.php?cPath=610_665_642&products_id=14944&osCsid=ef877a9b1af6dd11a5f880c4b01d6bd8
-Blades not yet determined probably the helidirect HDX silver/white ones, seem a bit heavier then average for autos.

Seems like it won't cost that much and the AR7100R will make for a nice and tidy wiring installation.

I've been building a few helis for buddys this winter, and still can't get over how simple this design gets everything done. I'm looking at all the new mega-buck birds and think 'hey, you can't just drop the motor package?' and servos all over the place. What a great design for a heli, heads/tail designs are a given, they can only do so much(on any heli), but this frame setup doesn't leave much to ask for, nor worry about. I look a Logo's new CF frame pod and WTF? Can you make something any more complicated?

I'll have to update in a couple weeks when I have money to blow. And it's not 17degrees outside. :arggg: Not ONE single week this winter in the 50's with winds under 25mph, come on already!

Sounds like a solid build, more or less like mine, but I have the Redline engine, had the hyper and lost it to a failed RX pack incident (not a crash, more of a on the skids burn out). Running the same pipe, very solid pipe for the cost, outputs decent power on my Redline but this is one of my first heli nitro's so can't compare other pipes motors.

If you run a Quark, USE A STEP DOWN. :)

Agreed. It's just a great design. I look forward to the moment after I crash, and have to replace the frame sides and can do it without having to tare every electronic out and rewire it all later.

The new Logo frame looks crazy cool but overly complex, I in fact could not define anything on the pictures I seen. Looks to Sci-Fi.. lol

Have the same set up on mine love it to death! pilled mine in from 200ft and only broke boom landing gear and blades. Bird is solid!

Damn... I was searching so hard to see how thesebirds handle a crash, people don't seem to crash'em, when they do in the rare occasions, it's all minimal. :D

I can guarantee that it will take an horrific crash to do a frame. I have do many Mother Earth kisses and still have the original frames

We should do a thread on "what's your usual crash cost" haha. :P

I haven't wreck'd mine but I read it's a $90 average.

Well, still lallygagging on the build but have just about everything now(couple things still shipping) A couple other things on the table(decided to completely revamp my T450 and my Habu) and the MCPX slowed me down a bit...:)

But this is what it's got now:

Align CF .50 kit of course, with Fusuno sunset canopy-the unfinished heli HAS to look good sitting around the house in random locations... :YeaBaby:

Spektrum H6040's on the cyclic
Turnigy(mks) BLS980 tail servo
GY520
OS50HZ
Outrage HR50 pipe
TIG 600mm Z-weave blades, KBDD paddles
AR7100R

Just need a pushglo and throttle servo (probably will be a Hitec digital of some sort from the LHS, and will use a backup return spring)

And I might get a carbsmart setup. Haven't figured out what size/config 2S lipo yet, but that's easy to source.

Hello,

Hmmm Turnigy BLS 980 ? ..

Just kidding  .. until 3 months ago used the Align DS650 (SAVOX SH-1290) and Atlas Hyperion DS20 GMD as tail servos .. until I bought 2 Turnigy BLS980s for my 2 Aeolus 50 3D GFs.

Never ever had a better tail - and even for that little money this tail servo really rocks. Two of them are working on Futaba GY-520 and one of on a Beast-X.

This servo is really really good, made the tail-difference inbetween my A50 3D GF with tail-belt and the other GF with ALIGN-TT almost Zero :clappp
Best Regards,
Oliver

P.S: The Turnigy BLS 980 runs 6V too, so you can buy a simple UBEC delivering 6V and avoid complicated step-downs etc. Have experience with the Perfect Regulator 5V/6V and the Turnigy UBEC 8A/15A and both work great for little money ..

Heh, updated now to the Outrage TORQ BL 9080's on cyclic. Now have the pushglo and 3500mah Outrage TX pack. Just waiting on a couple things in the mail :arggg: and she should be good to go. Skipping the carbsmart for now and just going to pickup a throttle servo from the lhs. The AR7100R already has the step down regulator for the tail servo/gyro built in.
