Has anyone heard if JR is planning on releasing a 2.4 GHz system that will plug into existing transmitters?

Specifically will I be able to buy a 2.4 GHz transmitter module for my JR 9303? Or is my only option to Ebay the 9303 and all my receivers to convert to a 2.4 GHz system?

You can "DX6-ize" your 9303. It becomes a 2.4 Ghz 6-channel with all the nice software setup of a 9303. It can be done in a module... See http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546434

Or, you can wait for XPS. They're going to make modules for the 9303, full 9 channels, etc. They are getting HUGE grief for having missed several ship dates. Some doubt they will ever ship. I'm hopeful... because I want a Graupner MC22 with 2.4Ghz. Anyway, XPS may make modules that will fit your 9303 someday.

Or, you can wait for the (rumored) DX9, which will be a 9303 from Spectrum. No dates announced.

There are no rumors about JR that are as "near" as the above.
