What are the symtoms of a failing tail motor? Reason being, I've noticed over the last couple of flights that I have lost yaw control. The tail rotor is still spinning but I have no "steering" so to speak and the gyro is having a hard time holding a constant heading? Tail motor starting to fade? 4 in 1 dying? I'm also running lipos with stock motors.

Check that tail rotor is firmly attached to driven gear..the little plastic tube will slip..a lot ....I use a set screw collar....no problems.

If the tail motor fails it just stops. Thats what mine did anyway, replaced with new.

Tail rotor is firmly attached and engaged in the two little cogs. I think the motor is losing its steam. It can't seem to hold a constant speed. Pehaps its time to go direct drive.

Or you you could use two heat tail motor heat sinks. I put two on and wow what a difference. The motor is barely even warm. If only I put these on earlier. I'm still going to have to replace the tail. :arggg: I tried putting a magnet on the motor. It dropped the voltage usage and the heat down. But I don't know if this is actully good for it. So... I went with the two heat sinks instead.
