What is the best way to balance a wing. I'm having trouble trying to get this thing balanced :arggg:

Just finished building my combatwing the instructions say the c g should be 6.5 inches back from the nose :dontknow
Ive not tried it yet as the weather in the UK is crap but i'll let you know how i get on

not sure what you are calling combat wing.. but main spar in wing 99.99% of time is the place to do cg on just about all planes.. but I'm sure someone else will disagree.. but been flying planes for years and if I dont know where CG is main spar in wing has always worked.. can you see it or feel location

On a conventional plane with a parallel chord the starting place for the CG is normally at 30% of the chord from the leading edge. With a parallel chord flying wing that CG is nominally 25% of the chord back from the leading edge. If the wing has a tapered chord you take the average chord by adding the tip chord to the root chord and divide by two. If the whole wing is swept back, leading and trailing edges, then measure out to half of one of the wings spans and at that point place the CG 25% back from the leading edge. Same principle works for Deltas' too.
This will give you a safe starting point, but the airfoil section and amount (if any) of reflex (turned up trailing edge or raised elevons) will decide the exact CG location. Essentially, the more reflex, the further forward the CG needs to go.
Edit: Just realised this is not a new post, but the info may help someone else, so I'll leave it in..... :D

Battery position and weight is the biggest factor. Wing should glide and land smoothly from a level hand toss with controls in neutral (elevon around 1/4" up at trailing edge. Take the prop off for testing! Use a broom handle for static balance first to get it close. If you are using different batteries you will have to do this for each and put refernce marks in the battery compartment so they go in correctly each time. Taping lead weights to the batteries is another option. Make sure you attach a brightly colored streamer to the battery (tape it and wrap it around) which will make it easy to find the battery if you get a really nasty crash. Combatwings can really take a lot of abuse!!

I just started flying a battle wing last weekend, and it is pretty much kick ass.

Here is how the directions say to balance a wing:
"Let the model decline with approx 30deg angle and put the sticks into neutral position. If the angle tends to increase, and model declines faster, the cog is too far back, and it needs additional weight in the front of the plane. If the model tends to reduce the decline, the cog is too far forward. put some weight on the back of the plane."
