It's been so long since I've set up a GV-1 I can't remember how to do it! Don't you set the RPM using the screen on the controller? I think all you have to do it connect the AUX lead from the GV-1 to the GEAR channel to use it as an on/off switch. The RPM is set using the gear ratio screen and RPM screen on the GV-1 itself.

Seems like when I used one, I just went by the instructions that came with the unit. I didn't have to do any fancy programming in the radio. The 9303 does have a Governor function and it works great with the Throttle Jockey, but I never tried to use it with the GV-1 so I can't comment on well it works (or doesn't).

Well,
I guess I will pay a visit to Finless. If anyone can figure it out..It's him. And he 's a nice guy to boot!
I'm sure it is not that hard...It is just that I am new to heli's and definately new to Governors.

Thanks.

I just bought my 9303 a week ago and I have been flying planes for 6 years and that is still my primary interest but I just started doing some helis but I wanted to know if my aircraft 9303 still has all the features of the heli version.

Thanks, Chris

Yes, The three position flap switch, ratcheting throttle, and the trainer button locations are the physical differences between the radios, When you turn it on it will default to a fixed wing aircraft type and you will have to purchase or download the heli manual.
I have the same radio, and removed the ratchet from the throttle, and swapped the location of the switches. JR sells the smooth tension band for the throttle BTW.

Hi,
I bought the JR 9XII (same with JR 9303) last few months but I found that my radio only came with mode 1.According to the manual,we can change the radio to mode 1 or mode 2 but i can't found the "STICK MOD" & "STICK DIR" in my system menu.
Can anybody tell me how to change it?Some of the senior flyer using the same radio told me i have to open the radio & modifield some of the hardware or component inside the radio then the "STICK MOD" & "STICK DIR" will appear in the system menu.Which component I have to set the "jumper"?Can somebody show me how to do that?

Thanks..... :?

G'Day,

To get into the menu which contains the stick mode etc you have to turn the radio on whilst holding the ENT button down :)

Cheers, Waz.

A local guy here has a 9X. I was looking it over and saw the STICK MODE in the regular menu. I just pressed "ENT" with the radio switched on and there it was. Are there different versions of the 9X?

G3 wont read a ccpm mix setup , you'll need to do a mccpm , ie single servo , model for it...

A setup question...
On the JR 9X MK II, how do you guys setup Thottle Hold AND throttle Cut functions?
I have the default Throttle Hold Switch assigned and given an Idle throttle value that works great.
What switch to you assign to the cut switch and how did you set it up?

Peter

It defaults to TRN/SN ROLL switch , go to the THRO TRIM menu , activate THRO Cut , set it to 10 points below your idle/hold setting .... all done !!!

Thanks Peter,
I have found out this via experimentation; Your throttle has to be at or under 12 output to have the Throttle Cut function kick in via this sw...

Would anyone know where this activation value for the Throttle Cut is set, just for interest sake? This value seems to be fixed, irrespective of the Hold Sw set at any value, even INH and likewise for the Thro Cut Value...

Confusing as I have found no documentation re this anywhere.

A tip for the 9x MK II users out there then.

Hi ,

Here is a mixing question :

In the mix 1-6 functions , when you select the channels to be master and slave , you have a choice of additionals channels like : #AIL #ELE #RUD #PIT AIL+ ELE+ RUD+ THR+ TIMT .

There is no information in the manual about these so I downloaded the "Detailed function description" document from horizon. You have to be at the web page describing the aircraft version of the 9303. Anyway, in that document they refer to the channels beginning with a "#" as the channel without any dual rate or expo applied. But there is no reference to the channels ending with a "+" or at the TIMT.

I would be very grateful if somebody could direct me toward any information about these channels.

I love JR radios but this 9303 heli manual sucks. I would be very happy if horizon could make the same kind of document that they did for the airplane version (Detailed_Function_Description)

Thanks
Jean-Michel

If you want to unlock your 9303's secrets buy Rays authoritative heli DVDs he sets up a raptor 50 and uses a 9303. He goes over every feature it has, how it works and the theory behind it. It is a little dry because he goes into a lot of detail but you will know your 9303 inside and out when your done. Heliproz sells the DVD sets.

Lemoore is about 40 minutes south of Fresno Ca. we are home to the largest U.S. naval air base in the world. They house and do all the training for the F/A 18 Hornet and the Super Hornet. Its pretty cool there are fighter jets every where. You gotta love the sound of fighter jets. Its a small town with a large base next to it. You will find the DVDs very usefull.

Well i have a question for all. I am having a problems with my 9303. When i put my thro hold on and push my thro up the heli glitches and starts to spool up. I have a 3cell 11.1v lipo batt from commom sense.com in my tx and a syn module in it and when you look at the screen with the thro hold on you can see the screen glitch and the heli glitches also. Now if i put the stock batt back in with the syn moduls its ok. and if i put the lipo batt in and put the stock module in its ok. (But with the lipo batt and the syn module it glitches. And i have had this setup for about three months with no problems till now.)

Helipilot48, well, as a newb I am NO EXPERT, but as an EE, my first thought is that that battery pack you're using either cant handle the current, or the battery voltage is just too low........

Hopefully someone else has the answer.

One of the features I like is it's ability to set a throttle delay when coming out of throttle hold

I have heard various opinions on the throttle time delay - even "you don't want ANY DELAY on the throttle, son!!! Get rid of it!!"

My inexperienced gut feal tells me that some delay might not be a bad idea all round - what sort of time delay have you set in? With all your autos I'm sure you have been able to test it a few times to make sure it is good.

If you want to unlock your 9303's secrets buy Rays authoritative heli DVDs

I'll second that!!! One of the best investments I ever made - all those un-documented features of the 9303 explained in detail.

While you're at it buy Ray's Authorotative Helicopter Manual too - always good to have handy.
