Since the new 9303 is starting to find its way into some hands, how about sharing your thoughts and tips? Or if you have a question, stick it here.

I guess that would depend on what you are asking for pictures of!

First post for me.

I got back into the RC hobby about a year ago. Decided to fly heli's instead of planks because I'm simply burned out on planes. Besides, heli's were the challenge I needed.

Since I knew I'd be in this hobby for the rest of my non-nursing home life, I bought what I felt was the best, the 9303. I'm still learning all it's features.

I'm flying a Raptor 50 V2 and I'm on my 20'th gallon. I think I'm running on pure luck because I've logged 282 auto's without a cent of damage.

One of the features I like is it's ability to set a throttle delay when coming out of throttle hold in an aborted autorotation. When I was learning these autos, it was nice to make an abort from an auto with your pre-programed throttle advance speed. Does the XP6102 have this feature? Or any of the cheaper radios? I wouldn't mind having a second cheaper radio as a backup.

Mark
P.S. Gosh, didn't realize how old this thread was until after I typed out this reply.

Welcome to Helifreak!

As far as I know, the 9303 is the cheapest JR radio to have the throttle delay feature. I know the 8103 doesn't have it, and I've set up several 6102's and don't recall seeing it. That's not say the 6102 definitely doesn't have it, but I haven't seen it going through the menus.

282 autos without a mishap is awesome! :noteworthy

Thanks for the info rob_jones.

My luck ran out a couple days ago. After I completed my 300'th auto, I decided to do some inverted hovering practice. I let the fuel get too low and the engine quit. By the time I rolled it over I lost too much head speed to do a successful auto. I had a boom strike. Broken blades, tail boom cut in half, etc. No big deal, kind of expected this to happen eventually. Don't mind at all.........

That sucks! I was flying somebody's Raptor 30 and he wanted me to hover it inverted. He used that yellow tygon stuff for gassers as a clunk line and the clunk stayed put when it was inverted. It flamed out and I just got it rolled over and landed in one piece. He was impressed and thought I did it on purpose! I'd rather be lucky than good any day!

It doesn't play songs, talk to you, or have all the pretty pics. It just works damn good and is easy to use.

Yep, that pretty much says it all. It has a lot of really advanced functions, but it's so intuitive that there just aren't many "secret tricks".

 HINT #1 :-

Change the model select number to the Heli you plan to fly, don't leave it on your Sim setting like I tried or you get funny results when you turn on the power.

It slows the throttle servo when you come out of hold, to prevent the sudden shock on the clutch in a bail out of an auto.
Can't help on setting it, I don't use it.

Setting the Throttle Hold Delay is pretty straightforward. Just go to the function in the menu and activate it. Then, set the time delay (in fractions of a second). Whatever delay you set is the time it will take the throttle to transition from the HOLD postition to stick position at the moment you switch out of HOLD.

The idea, like Wayne says, is to prevent the driveline from being shocked from going to idle to full throttle instantly. It also helps to prevent the copter from torquing around 180 degrees if you have to bail on an auto with a lot of pitch on the blades and a low (tail) rotor speed.

yea after i posted that lastnight i sat down with the radio and my raptor where i could see the throttle arm and set it to max delay and it;s so cool to watch it slowly to back to where you have the throttle. i got mine set at .5 of a second. i have a gv-1 govener and most of time when i'm doing autos i'm in st2 which is 1850 rpm so i think the delay will help the clutch out and keep from spinning. also does the 10x and 10sx have the delay???? a buddy of mine just got 2 new raptor 90's and i know one of them he has had problems when he came out of throttle hold on a aborted auto and the heli spun around on him and one or two times stripped the tail gears. i'm going to tell him and our heli pro at our feild about it and see if it might help with the 90's having shaft drive instead of belt!!

ps thanks so much guys!!!

AFAIK, the 9303 is the only JR radio with that feature. I've had an original PCM10 and a 10SX-II and neither of them have it. The 8103 doesn't either. Not sure about the newest 10X. It might.

Does Anyone know how to set up the JR9303 with a Futaba GV-1 Governor. I'm a noob..and just can't figure it out.
First what do I plug in where.. ( Aux RPM or ON Off)
I'm running it in a EVO 50
What settings would I want to input into the 9303 / and the GV-1. Any answers would be appreciated.
