Hi All

I am currently building a razor.

Setup will most likely be:
TP 3850 packs
HV85 speedie
Neu Motor (not sure of model yet)
TP1010 charger

Just wondering about charging batteries. I have spoken to a few people who tell me different things. Can you charge warm packs?

EG I have just had a fly. packs are perhaps a little warm. Can I put them on charge straight away or should I wait half an hour?

I want to make sure I look after the packs. I wont be charging over about .6C

Thanks
Glenn

Glenn,

I use 5s1p Evo20 packs (2 at a time = 10s) on both my Ion-x and Trex600. These packs have over 150 cycles and still work like new. I use the 75-80% discharge rule and recharge at 0.9C. The packs are usually only ~105 deg F after a flight. I let them cool down to body temp, for about 10 minutes before recharging them. Also, I put them on a balancer after each flight while they are cooling down, and then charge though the balancer. Also, take it easy on them for the first 5-8 flights, just gentle hovering and ~50% discharge only. Treat your packs well and they should last a long time too.

If you have an old Hacker Ion-x motor in stock (C50/15xl 1120 kv) you may want to try it on your Razor. With a 18.46:1 ratio, and HV85 governed to ~2100 hs, I think you'll like it. I'm using mine on my Trex600 right now at ~2200 gov'd hs and it is working very well, much better (and cooler) than it did on my Ion-x.

Best of luck and I look forward to seing you at the Xcell Cup at Coff's this May/07.

Cheers,

Tom C

How do you balance the 5s1p Evo20 packs (2 at a time = 10s) on a TP210 blancer?
Does it need some extra cables or adapters?

no extra cables needed. the 2 packs plug into the balancer directly at the same time. The balancer will see this as a 10s pack.
