Hi all,

Forgive me if this post is really nOOb, but that I am.

I just got my HDX last week (first real heli) Friday with a DX7 TX. The guy at the hobby shop set it all up for me and I watched him hover it outside his store. I was in awe...

Anyway, I have been fiddling with the TX a bit and it appears in my ignorance I messed something up. Please could someone take me through a step by step setup of the DX7 for the HDX 450? I am currently unable to practice flying as I cannot get my heli off the ground. All sticks go in unintended directions, and what makes it worse, is the heli wants to move off to the right as soon as the skids leave the ground.

I have seen beginner manuals all over the net which have helped me a fair amount, but it is the configuration of my own TX with the HDX that has me stumped. I am just simply to new at this to understand what I am doing fully.

The LamaV3 was my first heli and I went through the same frustrations trying to fly it. Suddenly the penny dropped and I was bolting all over the house with it. I can even fly it in reasonably strong wind now without crashing it. HDX... Well this is a MACHINE. Just throttling it up intimidates me. I would really appreciate some tips on flying and how to handle/setup my DX7.

TIA

Either take it back to the Hobby shop or (better for you) watch the Finless videos about building and setting up the HDX450. You will learn all about your Heli and with the manual at the ready you will learn all about your radio too :D
Good luck,
Paul :glasses2:

Hey Paul,

Ye... After fiddling last night and the intimidation of the HDX finally getting to me, I packed everything up and took it to the hobby shop this morning. They are going to reset everything up and get it balanced again ready for pickup tomorrow.

Problem is, when I crash it again, or mess something up again, I am stuck again. I need to learn all this stuff myself so I am not dependant on the hobby shop to fix it for me.

*sigh*... It is a long trying process, but I will get it. I am addicted to this hobby. I just wanna fly

You DO need to learn how to repair/tune/setup your heli yourself. You best bet by far is to watch the Finless videos, even the ones for other helis, as you will learn a tremendous amount.

a) At a minimum watch all the Finless videos for the TRexSE and the HDX450

b) This is a good setup guide for the TRex450SE and DX6, the principles will apply to your HDX450/DX7 but some of the details will differ: http://www.digimemphoto.com/guides/backguide.htm

c) Take a look at RADDs guide: http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html
