Yeah baby!!! Shawnboy where are you  Unfortunately this release thread is written in german only, I'll translate the most important points later, or maybe Ralf does :D But pictures are worth a thousand words :)

I figured Ralf might post it here as well. Can't wait to see all the new machines.

This is just plain wrong. Can I trade in my 10 for a new model?
The new features look better than I thought.

wow look at the new maingear,, arow head cut not straight or helical. dunno know what adv. on this design?

The herringbone gives you the best of both worlds. It has the contact surface of helical without the uni-directional force applied to the pinion and gear.
The one thing I'm concerned about is the tail drive gear on top of the main gear. What happens if you want to remove the boom? Looks like the main shaft has to come out also. :(

I agree. The old removable boom idea was one of the best ideas out there. However, this design is more efficient, and will allow even better autos and duration.
Scott, it looks at first glance that upgrading existing models will not only be easy, but also be somewhat inexpensive.

Let me know when you get parts in. I like the frame design.
Will this keep the tail ratio at 5:1 or will this change?
loopzilla

I imagine the tail ratio will be really close to 5:1, as there really isn't any need to make it different.

I really like Mikados new design. It should be light, tough and it have the LLS head. Driven tail in all models, supports both full size and mini servos, large battery compartment, more efficient tail. Great looking canopies! I love the idea of the herring bone gear - it will be exciting to see how it works in real life :)
Only thing i would like to know is if there is a place that is perpendicular to the main shaft where we can put our gyros without wedging them. Not a big deal though...
Congratulations Mikado - well done!
Looking forward to see some live pictures and the date when we can buy these models.
Do you guys think there will be any upgrade paths for L10's and L14's (who would ever have thought that there should come a day where anyone would upgrade a CF frame to a plastic frame  )?
Shawn, are you awake yet? Did you choke on your breakfast cereals?

I too like the new Mikado Logos, Im in love with the re-designed frame. I really like the servo setup and the ability to use different sized servos. The belt drive looks pretty interesting as well. As far as a upgrade path I dont know it doesent look like that'll happen, oh well its a fully redesigned heli and Im happy about that.

What makes it a fully redesigned heli? The head components look the same, the tail box has had a very slight revision over the old MIK 3062, and I don't imagine the tail booms have changed. I'm watching this one closely, as I have a wall full of parts that could be outdated instantly.
As far as I can tell from these limited renderings, you would only need the following to upgrade a current Logo 14:
Main Gear & possibly a new AR hub
Tail Drive Pulley
Belt
Frame
Possibly a new main shaft (if the length changed)
Idler Pulleys & associated bearings
Canopy
The cost of the new kits will define whether upgrading will be cost efficient, but an upgrade kit looks very possible. Upgrading would also benefit Mikado tremendously in the marketplace.

Well fully re-designed may have been pushing it a bit but the frame has been upgraded. As far as the parts go add it up and youre probably on your way to a Logo 500. Actual photos would be nice Id like to see some close ups. Hey those extra parts wont go to waste Im sure, they'll be lots of people that wont upgrade and will be looking for parts.

Apparently the new 600 boom has a larger diameter than the old one, that would invalidate a few parts. That said, there's plenty of logo fliers around with the old boom size (not to mention the new 500 owners).

Hmm, that doesnt sound too bad. And the list would be about the same for a Logo 10 I suppose - unless they use the exact same head on the 500 and 600.
The one thing I'm concerned about is the tail drive gear on top of the main gear. What happens if you want to remove the boom? Looks like the main shaft has to come out also.
It doesnt look that bad from these drawings. Looks like you just have to pop out the lower jesus bolt and let the gears drop down before you pull out the boom? Nice opportunity to regrease the one way bearing :)
Wonder why there are flat openings on the sides of the frame just where the main shaft bearings are located. Could it be to slide in and out a bearing holder? If so it would be a nice touch. That would save a lot of time if you need to change one of these bearings after a crash...
Also looks like the helical gears would fit a L14 :)

OK cool, I am pretty impressed. To Ralph and Danny I have some points and Qs' though...
1.
As Lorents though asked about the main shaft bearings I truly hope you don't have to split the frames, that would be a step back imho, like the Raptor and I hate that about them. So please enlighten us to how that works or some closer pics please.
2.
I love the main gear and it makes perfect sense to have it that way, what is the tooth count of that arrow gear?
3.
Will there be upgrade kits for existing Logo 10 and 14s' for the new gear and tail belt drive as well as a Boom and boom holder upgrade to take advantage of the new diameter booms?
4.
Full size servos wooohooo! The layout looks real good to, I love the simplicity in the design, the canopy looks fantastic to, this was a job well done Ralph.
5. "I can barely contain myself here"
Who will be carrying these first and where do I get on a list for one of each? I need at least one of these ASAP as spring is very near :)
 :D :D

Good morning Shawn!
2 - I found the teeth count over at RR: The gear will be available in two sizes -
218 teeth (mod. 0.5) and 155 teeth (mod. 0.7)
5 - Me too wants them :)

Oh yes and for the record I agree with this 110%!!!!!! :)

If upgrade the driven tail does that mean we need to change the frame on logo 14? But i love the logo 14 carbon frame.

You have to split the frames Shawn  But you have your thrustraced tail out of the box, lol :smokin: You can see some real pictures of it here http://www.rc-heli.de/board/index.php?topic=62346.15

Very nice :!: When can we expect them to be available?
a) Any word on pricing?... 500 ~ Logo 10 3D and 600 ~ Logo 14?
b) The herring-bone main gear sounds good, but it could be a little tricky to setup. Now you'll have to not only set the tooth engagement depth accurately, but you'll also have to get pinion positioned on the motor shaft such that both sets teeth are loaded equally and not forcing the shaft into one of the endbells.
I think I see a Logo in my future...

Quick and dirty translation. Hope everything is clear:
I'm glad to present you the new generation of Logo E-Helicopter here on the RC-Heli-Fan board. Mikado has a long tradition designing e-helicopters. Models like the Logo 20, Logo 10 and Logo 14 have set standards in flight performance and quality.
The fast changes in battery technology have changed the helicopter market and made the nitro helicopter loose market share.
We at Mikado have always had the foresight, that the future belongs to e-helicopters thus we are happy about the increasing market share of e-helis.
Mikado will always have the goal to advance in new technologies, ideas and fulfill them in Germany.
The new Logo 500/600 frame
The frame consists of parts made of high quality CFK. Many parts like the battery holder, servo mountings are already included.
The frame offers a large area for standard batteries. Motors with up to 56mm/2,2" can be inserted.
Main gear with arrow gearing
Due to the increasing power of e-motors, the last years have shown that usual gear concepts have reached their end. With the new arrow gearing we at Mikado present a revolutionary concept for helicopters.
The advantages compared to traditional gears:
- Power transmission
- Decreased noise
- Better smoothness
The new gear will be available in 2 different sizes: Modul 0,5 with 218T and Modul 0,7 with 155T
Servo mounting
One of the biggest advantages of the plastic frame is the higher flexibility in design compared to CFK Frames. It becomes apparent when mounting the cyclic servos. The 3 standard size servos fit harmonically in the whole frame concept.
Short linkages, fast assembly and dis-assembly of the servos - all that combined with a minimum of weight.
Its also possible to use midi servos like the Futaba 9650. [/b]
