View Full Version : I think I killed my Lipo....

I left my DN 3S 2150mah 20C battery hooked up to my speed control on my MX450. Only the BEC was being used but, I walked away, got sidetracked and came back realising I left it plugged it. I hooked it up to my DN Charger and it registers cells 2 and 3, and charges them correctly. Cell one does not come up. I'm sure it's toast and its my own dumb error. Is there any last resort I can try to bring it back to life? I figure, at this point, I got nothing to lose.

Personally, I'd try to trickle charge cell 1 to bring it up to a voltage considered acceptable to the DN charger, and then try it on the DN again.
Definitely do this outdoors and/or in a firesafe container.

I used a Triton to charge/balance it. Seems to be working fine now. I'm going to cycle it a few time via the Trition and keep an eye on it. I figured I had nothing to lose. As of now, the DN charger reads and charges all the cells equally.

Excellent. I use a Triton myself. Nice charger.

I'm much more of a fan of the DN charger which I own. My friend has the Trition. Although the Triton does cycle and discharge any battery, I think the DN is much more practical. However, it was the Triton this time that saved the day.

I'm not familiar with the DN. I don't claim the Triton is the best. But I like it.

Hi Spork,
It seems like Rx LiPo's packs are the way to go.
I have a question for you since you have the Triton.
I've been putting the idea to change to LiPo's away since I thought the Triton wasn't good for them (it only says LI Ion on it) and I refused to spend another couple of hundreds in another charger.
So, do you use LiPo for Rx or just for electric helis???
If you use them for Rx's how many flights do you get per pack????
Thanks,

I don't recall the particulars, but you do use the Li-Ion menu option on the Triton to charge LiPo's. My recollection is that it's described in the manual. I can check when I return home if you like.
I use LiPo's only for powering my electric heli and my foamy plank. However, I've just changed to A123's on my heli, so the LiPo's are now relegated to the plank.
