Has anyone used the Century 600 motor on a Swift 16 with 4S lipos?
I got a combo with a Hacker A30-8XL and a 4S bat. I want to go to 550 mm blades from the 520's. one of the 600 motors is rated at something like 1550kv 'ish. This is more than the A30.
If anyone has tried this can you give details like amp draw, pinion, 4S pack size in m.a.h.?
Maxamps.com has lipos in 10,000 m.a.h size for cheap! A 4S 10kmah pack is about 29 oz. That would be good duration an an AP ship!

in summer i've used /tested century600 (not 600Plus!) with lipo himodel-4s1p-4000mah-20c and 14t pinion. i've only 8 or 10 flight - very slow and silent, bad dynamics and control. problem in low rpm of rotor 1310-1390 (motor 715kv). when i've change battery to tanic-6s1p-3600mah-20c model has fly more and more better, more control and dynamics.

aramsdell. MySwift has a Z30 1100,(close to the 600plus). I am flying with 2 4S 4000 Maxamp packs in parallel. 15 minute flights. Head speed at lift off 1650. I have a 5S 10,000 Maxamps on the way. I like duration also. I would guess 20-25 minutes with that pack. It has an 11 tooth pinion. Going by re-charging, it uses about 375 mah per minute.

ddheli, Nice to here from the Ukraine ! I think you should try an 11 T or 10 T with the motor/battery you mentioned. I'm not sure what the KV rating of that 600 was but the Hacker A30-8XL that I got in my ARF is around 1100 kv and that came with an 11 tooth pinion and 4S 3700 mah lipo. This motor runs warm/hot even in the cold temperatures here in New England. I'm upgrading, probably ordering tonight.
This Swift 16 flies well on this motor but it's definately not a hot rod. I want it for Aerial photography so I want duration. I don't think the , smallish, Hacker motor will do well in warm temps with a load of camera equipment and a heavier battery let alone longer 550mm blades.

Greybird, What are you using for charger/balancer? I love my 4S Cellpro. I'd like to have, say, a 6S charge through balancer plug type.
Money is an object. Today it's not a huge object. I respect quality. Quality flys.

I am looking to get my swift up in the air but dont want to spend a bundle, does anyone here run the Centruy 550 and 60 amp Century speed controller (4s)? I only have a 4s charger so that is what I am looking to stay with this year. I can do basic loops/rolls, just starting on inverted hovering w/my 450 HDX so I dont need a ton of power but I would like some. If anyone has this combo they would like to sell please let me know.

aramsdell,
the most economic motor probably is necessary for air photo for you? then probably it will be better inrunner. at me on the second swift inrunner neu1907-15 - flies on the same accumulators for 1 minute more. when you will select the motor, look not only at efficiency (85-90 %), but also on Io (I-zero, I-zero-ten) - the current which is necessary for the motor without loading at 10v. at inrunner it is usual 1-1,5A a outrunner 3-3,5A.

aramsdell. I amusing a TP 1010C with a TP balancer. It will charge any Lipo in less than an hour.

Greybird, Thanks.
ddheli, Thanks also. I ordered the 600 plus already though. The long runtimes I can get with a larger battery. www.maxamps.com is now selling 10,000 mah packs at really nice prices.

and for long time (not for 3d) you can using semi-simmetrical or s-type main blades. heli will fly "like a glider", have more trust and need less power-energy.
good fly!

ddheli, Greetings from State of Maine, U.S.A. Thanks for your advice. You said you had used a 600 but not the 600 + ? I just got my shipment from Heli-World (Century) and the 600+ was in it. This thing is a monster compared to the Hacker A30-8 XL. Weighs a couple ounces more. Size wise it is just big! This will swing almost anyuthing I can throw at it for blades I'm sure!!!
Anyone chime in here.
What to do with the Hacker A30-8 XL? What smaller heli would be HIGH PERFORMANCE with this motor?
ESC for 600 + 1110 KV motor.
What does anyone think about using my Electron 55/70 esc with this motor on 4S lipos? I will be doing a little light 3d(loops,rolls,flips) until the camera setup is installed. 55/70 happens to be the exact same as the 600+ motor. For what it's worth this ESC comes back down stone cold right now while the pack is fairly warm( maybe 100-110 F) and the Hacker is about 140 . My set-up has the ESC mounted by the edge of the fins onto a thin piece of aluminum angle and placed directly in the fan exhaust of the motor.[/img]

aramsdell, thank you, and greetings from kyiv/ukraine!
my motors.
of course - 600+ looks like monstre, and work the same. old 600 (w/o +) not a bad motor too, but have low rpm (715kV) and can fly with 6 or more lipo's. my first swift i've recieved in december-2005, and for this time i've tested 4 motors/accus: 1. jeti-phasor-30/11t/12nimh and 4lipo/515mm-MAH-blades= only for smooth fly (i'm guess, your a30-8xl can work in combo like this). 2. 600(old)/14t/6lipo/530mm = normal all type of fly, for 3d not enought of rpm's. 3. now--neu1907-15/11-12t/6lipo/515mmMAH = very good for all type of flyes. 4. now--600+/10t/6lipo/515mmMAH - very strong and powerfull, now i waiting for 550mmMAH's (here all flyes at the MAH's, it's made in ukraine and have good prices).
my esc's.
unfortunatelly i've smoked/burned my electron55-70 (with 6lipo, and i guess with 4lipo it will be not so dangerous) -- only take the rotor head to hand and (wrongly) little move the throttle stick - one second and gray smoke :( . now i've using two cc phoenix 80 - first 10 month, second 6 month. they have number of crashes (f.e. landing at rotor ;) ) --- and not any problems.
and so, of course, it was my opinion only.
what you prefer to fly - in governor mode or at the throttle curves?

ddheli Dmitry, I haven't even tried governor mode on any of my helis. I've run my own curves adjusted for the weight of my cameras on my TREX's. Sport flying without a camera (on TREX's) I still use my own Idle up
100,100,90,100,100.
The Swift is still getting adjustments to get me totally familiar with it,like I am with the TREX'S. I can build and set-up a TREX without instructions. I will soon be like that with the Swift. My new parts came yesterday. Lots of PURPLE anodized parts, metal head, metal motor plate, spares for most all of the tail stuff, new 600+!
I'm going to start with the stock 11T gear, from the A30-8XL, and see how the 600+ likes it. I'm guessing that at hover there isn't going to be a huge difference in current draw between these two motors.
I'll post that finding after I install the new parts.

Finished installing the 600+ right at dusk. Took her up for about 2 1/2 minutes of breathtaking climbouts(for me). Climbs like a tricked out TREX !. This is on 4S FP3700. I'll be getting a large 4S from maxamps.com for longer flights and AP work with 550mm blades.

aramsdell. This Swift is so much fun, I am thinking about selling the TrexSe and all my smaller heli's. Which battery will you be getting?

For fun I would go with a larger than 3700 4S, say a 4S 4900. I've got the 11T and 600+motor and the ARF supplies FP 3700 4S for about 6 to 7 minutes of wow. Others can direct you to the best 3D set-up. 5S and 11T with a 4S4900 would be wild probably around 6 to 8 minutes still ( just guessing here) I think the 6S 3700 Flight Power and this motor is giving 6 to 7 minutes of Insanity on 9T, but ask around.

at fp 6s1p-3700 with 600+ = 8,5-9,5 minutes.
