I have a Raptor 50V2 with all the bling, but my brother is about to purchase a Raptor 50.

Which should he get? The Titan or the 50SE?

I understand the Titan has a slightly slower rate of roll but that the 50SE has the metal head.

Which performs best? Which is the best deal - kit wise.....

i would go with the Se ourly for the rotor head and performance. with an OS 50 hyper it should be off the wall

I'd go for the Se as well. If you want the longer boom, convert it after the first crash. :D

Actually I added it up, its cheaper to get the titan and a metal head, and white paddles to by like $10!

Cheers Guys.
There's not much in it is there? I was actually factoring in that I'd recommend he does the tail mounted tail servo too if he bought the SE so then the Titan starts to look more attractive as it has a mounting system already I think....

Out of interest - does a Titan fly alright with 600mm blades - if you decide you want more pop and roll rate.....

My Titan flies fine with 600 blades, as does my 50SE.

I set the helis side by side and there is not much visible difference in boom length. I have the new Titan boom and plan to convert my SE to a Titan after the next major crash. I will switch to the 620mm blades after I bust up all my 600s.

BTW - The best thing I have done with these two helis is switch to the new gear set. The new 8.73:1 ratio (11/96) really sent my Hyper 50 engines into "Happy Land". :D :D :D

Hi Ron,

Like your style regarding planning ahead for which way to go after the next... crash :arggg:

Thanks for the tips on the new gear ratio for the Titan. I wondered if it made a difference. What sort of headspeed are you running with it?

My Rev Lock is set to run at 16,000. The 8.73 gives me a comfortable 1830 RPM.

But I am just an Intermediate flier. IIRC, some of the hot dogs are running their Hypers at 16.5K (supposedly the Hyper's real sweet spot), which puts the headspeed closer to 1900.

This one single change did more for my Raptor than any of the bling I've added the past couple of years. :D

I think you will enjoy this one.

Actually most of us run them at 17K which is 2000 on the stock gears and 1950 on the optional gearing.

Also the tail servo is best left in the canopy unless you insist on using the push pull on the collective pitch.

Is the tail servo best left in the Canopy for Centre of Gravity considerations or is it servo safety? I didn't like the idea of the two piece pushrod coming undone in flight or flexing. Don't know if it would, but thats why I rapidly converted to the boom mounted, carbon pushrod conversion kit offered by Quick UK.

I believe he is suggesting this course of action due to the CG. My Titan is tail heavy with the tail mounted servo, but I just put 1.5 ounces of lead under the battery.

I prefer the direct control from the servo and my battery was a light weight Fromeco unit anyway.

I would like to convert my V2 with a Titan boom, but leave the servo up front... what is anyone doing to extend the linkage rod? Is there a stock part I can order to replace the stock one? Maybe from a 60?

Hi guys,

That's a nice subject for a conversation.

I put aside my old R30V1 and ordered a Raptor 50V2.5 Titan from Lindinger.at. The box arrived just in 4 days.

Prior this buy I had exactly the same thinking with the fellow, Titan or SE.
I got scared when my buddy crashed his and finally I made my desision. I saved my 150Euro for a future crash repair kit.

Now it's on my bench ready for assembling it.

Hot oil bath for your servo.
