Bestview, I think that these cameras will both end up with the same approx size for pixel architecture. The 7.1 has a smaller sensor. 1/2.5 =.4 inches across. A640 has 1/1.8=.555 inches across. The 10 MP is on a larger chip. Without using actual (pixel wide) x (pixel high) numbers but just my crude fuzzy logic I come up with a roughly the same pixel density.

Thanks for the info!
Now i'm still wondering if image stabilisation is a good feature for AP work, or if that IS mechanics might pick up some damage from vibrations?

The Canon S2 that I am using has a very good IS chip.
While it doesn't cure all vibrations, it does mask some 'fine' vibes going through the frame while hovering.
This was on my home-made mount where I noticed a significant difference with/without the IS enabled.
I will be using one of Andrey's aplg mounts to test the IS.
I've had two Canon S1's and this is our 3rd S2 (other photo work aside from AP).
All three have been subjected to quite a bit of vibrations for extended durations of time. Mainly river rafting/kayaking/snowmobiling.
The IS mechanics never broke down.
IMO, for a POS. The S2/S3 series IS is very effective long-term.
Hope this helps.
