i may have overlooked this in the manual but there are a couple switches on the radio that i do not see described in the manual. they are on the identification / location diagram (page 63) but i do not see them described.
the two switches are: "Trainer/Hover Pitch Rocker" and "Hover throttle" switch. anyone know what these do and where i can find some documentation about these and what they do.
are there links to any good dx7 sites that provide tips on using the dx7 features?
thanks,
gw

see answer to same question as posted on RunRyder.
98% useless switches designed for the beginner to slightly modify throttle & pitch at centerpoint
of Normal curve.

that's a BS answer. Some of us don't want to goto RR for any reason. Post the answer or move along.
They modify the pitch & throttle curve when in NORMAL mode around the centerpoint of the curve.
Sometimes useful during first flight when trying to get the
throttle & pitch dialed in.
That's one answer I found.

First off, blow me.
Second, he posted the question in both places.
Third, I did in fact answer the question.
Fourth, did I mention 'blow me' ?

First off He asked here and got an answer here from me finding it and posting here.
Second have some respect.
Third don't troll for dates here.
You obviously fit the RR culture more so just go back there and leave us alone.

I have emailed him. He also did answer the question here when he said..

Good way to crash your heli if you ask me leaving that enabled.
Anyway, I PM'd him.

So the answer as we now know is to modify the centre point of the pitch and throttle curves in Normal mode. It is my understanding the scale and F3? competition folk do actually make use of this feature sometimes, but it is generally considered useless for sport or 3D flying.
I believe one of them also has a function when in trainer/buddy box mode.
I did read somewhere, but cannot find it now, that you can assign other functions to those rockers, for example ch7, so that it can be used as a gain control for an AP flight stabilisation system or an actuator etc.
...
OK so I downloaded the manual to take a look. The options vary between Plane and Heli models. For a Heli model:
p71 - Trainer
The left or right rocker can be programmed as the trainer switch.
p88 - Hovering Throttle Rocker Setting
The hovering throttle rocker increases or decreases the engine throttle position for the center point only (point #2) of the throttle curve. Use of the hovering throttle rocker shifts the middle curve upward or downward.
Therefore, operation of the hovering throttle rocker does not cause any change to the high point and low point of the throttle curve but only affects the hovering rpm. The hovering throttle rocker only affects the throttle curve in normal mode and has no effect on the curve in Stunt 1 or Stunt 2.
p89 - Hovering Pitch Rocker
The hovering pitch rocker operates in the same manner as the hovering throttle rocker. It is operable while the flight mode is in the N, or Normal, position, and its function is to shift the center point (#2) of the curve either
upward or downward to adjust pitch at the hover position.
Unfortunately from the manual it appears that in Heli mode the function cannot be changed to operate Ch7 (Aux2) like it can in Plane mode :(

How do you program a throttle cut switch on the DX7??
The DX6 has one!!!

You have to use Pmixes. There are some examples here (search the thread for throttle cut) : http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6765442
and a very clear example here: http://rc-soar.com/spektrum/

Apologies from HeliFreak on his behalf. That IS NOT what we are about here
I know he has some "stuff" going on but I can't think for the life of me why he would answer you this way.

Why is the mention of RR a bad thing? I understand Z's point precisely and I don'think he started the confrontation.
I use both forums as well as others and if you frequent both and see double posts what's the point in answering on both?
My personal policy is if you post on one forum you leave it there. Cross forum posting isn't necessary and in some cases it just a time waster. I waste enough time on forums in general anyway.
Besides, this is covered in the manual on pages: 87-89

My personal policy is to never go to RR unless absolutely necessary! He pretends we do not exist and does not allow ANYONE to link to US from HIS site. I see no reason to promote a site with such draconian policies.
RR's history and policies aside... the 'blow me' is what I found most troublesome. Going to one site hitting edit -> copy then coming and pasting it to a new post is not that hard and will help people later down the line. To that point there is no guarantee that post will be on RR in a week, a month, or a year. You know how Mark is  We do not delete posts here. UNLIKE THERE.
