What was the cost to get that thing flying?
I didnt buy the helio but did but the servos, gyro, etc... It's gonna cost about the same as a Trex SE possibly a little lower.

Finally a weekend of nice weather here, so I got to spend some quality time with my dragonus. Such a smooth flyer, it does wonders for my confidence. I was pulling out stuff I haven't been able to do before outside of a sim.
Thanks again for the build vids, Bob. They were a big help as always!

Naruto28, nice looking heli!
I got to ring mine out today too FINALLY!
I loved it man.... It has a different feel than the Trex but GREAT roll response... I had some feel of interactions which tuning will fix but I loved it! It's a GREAT flying heli and has some merrits over the Trex450! The head is aggressive and I like that! WOW it really did well!
Now if i could just walk into a local hobby shop and get parts I would fly the piss out of this thing! Alas... in the end and as ALL my friends have pointed out, it flys great but support is no where to be seen right now! If that changes this will be a popular heli but honestly I just dont see that happening...
I have to say if I pound this thing beyond a few parts then It will probably get shelved as I wont live by buying simple parts online and waiting a week to get them...
Sad truth but if RC'er really wants a market here in the US then they need to be FLOUDING the place with helis and parts... If they dont this will be about as successful as the HDX450....

Thanks man, glad yours seems to fly as great as mine. I may have some interactions as well, when I do inverted climbouts I get a bit of roll. Probably just the pilot or some wacky trim or something. I also need to get some longer servo arms as I only had ones with the ball 10mm from center . I totally agree with you on the parts support though... hopefully this little heli will catch the attention of someone at a larger US supplier. The couple of overseas websites that carry parts are just not gonna cut it :arggg:

Hi Bob, great videos, really made the linkage and swash setup easy, thanks for the tips.
Can i ask if you had any play in the washout block onto the main shaft? And the tail pitch levers brass insert seems a little too large for the ball on the control, so ive got a bit of slop, im thinking of changing the ball or turning a new insert  , how was yours?
Thanks Again :noteworthy
Justin
Justin, I had the same problem with the brass insert at the tail. I peened the brass where it flares out and eliminated the slop. Now it's perfect. I didn't notice any play at the washout block.

Yes I had some slop but also peened it. The washout is sloppy on the main shaft much more so than a Trex but it still fly well :)

Hi guys,
Saw something funny that i wanted to share. There are already a few guys using the Dragonus head assembly on the Trex450...the reason. They like the the way it handles.
Extra reason..the head is cheaper then the trex vesion

I'm glad that you guys love the heli.... i've been trying to persuade many of the extreme heli flyers out there to try-out this heli.... worth the money!!!
About the head assy, you may get it from your local distributor, It comes complete or semi-complete. The completed one include swashplate assy and the rest to the top... retail at USD120(without mainshaft, pushrods, and normal links).
The semi-completed one as the above but without swashplate, washout base and also washout swingarms. Retail at around USD80.

Tom/Bob,
Could you explain how you peened the brass insert to make it a tighter fit?

I was a little surprised to find the Dragonus has a hollow main shaft, do they make a solid main shaft, does it bend easily? It reminds me of my shogun which had a hollow shaft and I once crashed it hard enough to shear it and it would bend if you looked at it wrong.

Just thought all you guys that own the Dragonus in the US, may be finding it
hard to get parts, here are a few sites that sell Dragonus parts:
www.flying-hobby.com
www.rc-expert.com
www.hoverhobbies.com
www.mcbusiness.com
Hope they help some of you guys finding it hard to get parts.

Lets see.... Sometime hollow main shaft can be STRONGER. Just depends what it's made out of. I wont know until I crash ;)
The metal flake is a spray can! My canopy was painted with all spray cans bought at Home Depot. It's the clear coat that really sets off the metalics and I use a urathane clear.
