Hmmm good point! I will shoot a flying vid weekend after next (since I will be in Toledo this weekend).

rogere, my videos DONT go into that as radios vary! I cannot possibly cover all the different radios and what servos plug into where.... What radio do you have?

bobHi Bob below is a list of the gear sold to me.

Futaba 6 EXP, with spectrum S75 servo`s, Gyro is a GWS PG03. ESC is a Pro-Tronic 30A and the motor is a Pro-Ttronic 4500H, receiver is A Hitec 6 channel single conversion HFS-06MT/Mini 6S.

The reason for advice is I bought this complete from our local model shop, and paid £385uk pounds, they are a snarling bunch and talk to me as if I am a 2 year old, I built it as best I could from your Video`s took it too them for a looksee and check over ...all he could comment on was the gyro was wrong.. but he let the world know with sarcasm, so I shant be going there again so I am looking for help here and learn more........with luck.

Thanks for replying

Rog.

Just press it on, they are press fit versus slip fit. I use a vice, and use some green loctite.

Good point original RCer motors had oddball 3mm shafts. best idea might be to just order Trex pinions...

Thanks Bob, your vids are a great source of knowledge. Had no problems setting up my dragonus head on a T-rex main shaft and HOSS frame.

Hey Bob, Hobby lobby just put the dragonus on there website so having no parts availability is no excuse not to fly.............so fly it like you stole it and post up the video

This is annoying. Why do they ship the Dragonus with the Align 430L motor and 3.0 mm pinions???
This has kept me grounded for an extra week. :arggg:

I have another small problem. I have a Futaba 9650 on the tail, so I need a shorter tail servo push rod. I bought the T-Rex one but it is thicker and doesn't fit in the holder under the vertical fin. There is not enough room to drill a bigger hole. Any suggestions?
As a temporary solution I cut the Dragonus push rod and CA'ed the ball link to the rod, do you think this will hold?

The the stock rod and cut it about 4 inches in front of the servo. Then trim some length on the short piece until when the 2 are joined back together it is the right length. Now get a small piece of brass tube and stick the to rods together and solder them together with the brass tubing.

Ok, I'm officially a dumbass for running the stock fiberglass blades at 3000 rpm. Blade broke at the root in flight - heli exploded. It landed pretty soft, but the damage caused in the air by the blade imbalance was nasty.

So far, the damage tally is: main shaft (bent nearly 90 degrees in flight  I can't even bend it by hand or get the swash and upper collar off of it), flybar, feathering shaft, tail boom (small dent and bend, might be able to straighten it), anti-rotation/servo bracket bent to hell, paddles, main gear, one HS-65HB, and probably swashplate as well (bent slightly and will probably destroy the bearing if I ever get it off the main shaft). The flybar broke off inside one of the paddles and scratched the case on my 401, but looks like it's only cosmetic.

So I guess my electrics will go back in my T-rex until I decide what to do with my dragonus.

Oh, and I finally found a set of the new Align carbon blades today - just a week too late :arggg:

Nice Bob, so how do you like the Dragon compared to its nearest competition?

Finless

It's a nice heli! Of all the "clones" and other 450 sized heli's out there, this one is the best. I would not replace my Trex SE V2 with it mainly because of parts availability. But this heli is a keeper.

I wanted to switch to one only because I am stil having tail hold issues with my Trex. I am thinking about swapping out the Futaba 9650 to a JR 3400G next to see if it helps any. I hear the dragonus tail is rock solid?

Finless

Not much difference really.... What tail hold issues are you having? Hard backwards 3D stuff or hold in basic stuff?

Basic hovering, Its too hairy to even try 3D. It pretty disapointing to me coming from a 90 Size nitro heli where the 401 held my tail rock solid. I guess the next most logical step is to try a new servo and then a new gyro. If it still has the same problem after that then I am lost.

Finless

Well you have some problem then and getting a dragonus wont help.... The Trex holds well for basic stuff. Its hard backwards under heavy pitch that it can let go and it because the tail is not strong enough to compensate. Dragonus wont be any better there. The JR 3400G is a better servo but the 9650 shoud hold fine for what your doing.

Yeah I def have something that isn't workin up to snuff. Like I said I will try a diff gyro and servo and see if the problem is there.
