Fellow turbine-enthusiasts,

Last saturday, I did my first auto...
And since we do not settle with the easiest version ;) , I had flame-out in 3m height and my first reaction was to say: "huh?". Too late initiating autorotation, not enough height to do something stabilised and flaring too early with not enough headspeed...
Broken skids, rest appears ok, feathering and main shaft pending check...

Flameout occured due to air that was in the system after I had to disconnect fuel-lines for the gearing-change.
I *did* see an air-bubble in the fuel line and was aware of it. I planned to get rid of it by just run the engine for adjustments on ground which I had to do anyway. I had the flameout then, rechecked the line and it appeared ok.
Obviously, there must have been some air trapped in the valve of any connections which got shaken loose during the flight and which caused flame-out.

Question now:
How do *you* guys vent your fuel lines?
Yes, obviously by disconnecting the fuel line and run the electric-pump.
Question is where to disconnect?
Do you unplug right at the engine? Which needs to remove the intake...
Or just the last connection before and outside of the engine?
How long to drain?

Thanks for sharing your expiriences!

Cheers,

Daniel
