Hi All,

I posted this questoin in another forum, but I then realized it is best posted in a MA-specific forum.

I've been flying my Spectra without the canopy while the engine is being run-in (perhaps not a good idea?) partly because I haven't made up my mind between the forward or rear canopy position options. I am aware that the manual says that this choice should be based on engine orientation. My engine faces back, so in principle I shoudn't need to mount the canopy in the forward position, but there is an issue with my fuel tank.

I am using a front-mounted, inverted (upside down) 16-oz fuel tank under the radio tray and frankly, I cannot detect whether or not there is enough clearance between this large tank and the lower front canopy region.

I thought I'd draw on other users' experiences with this and ask if any of you guys have used this tank configuration with the canopy in the rear position? Will the canopy not rub against the tank?

All thoughts are welcome.

Thanks,
Bruno.

It can rub and that is why the tank is smaller as supplied for the Spectra-G. I know of a few people who have fitted the larger tank in that position without having an issue. All I can say is to try it to see if it wll fit. I have a 14 ounce tank behind the motor with the head facing forward in my machine.

Thanks for the feedback John, I will give it a try.

PS - You have probably heard this many times before, but many thanks for the Spectra build video. I watched it a few times before even purchasing the kit, and when the time came to start building, I felt as I had already done it before. Well done!
