I took my OS50 apart to change the bearings and I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to get the piston ring compressed and the sleeve slid over the piston.
Do they sale a mini ring compressor for this purpose?
How do you all get the sleeve back over the piston?

There should be a pin in the piston groove and that is where the gap in the ring goes. Once ring is in the right spot you should be able to slide the sleve over the piston and ring. Oil the sleve first and you may need to twist the sleve back and forth a little to get it to go. The piston and connecting rod must be on the crank before you slide the sleve on or you will not be able to get it back together once the piston is in the sleve.
I just talked to DavidH. :D Thanks David!!

I having a hard time keeping the ring compessed and then trying to slide the sleeve over the piston.
I get the ring oriented to the pin in ring groove and when the sleeve does slide over the piston I'm not really sure if the ring gap is still over the pin.
So if the sleeve is sliding over the piston, the ring gap should be over the pin or can the sleeve slide over the piston even if the ring gap is in the wrong place?

Rick,
If the gap isn't over the pin the sleeve won't go over the assembly. Well, that's almost true, I know someone who forced it and broke the ring. If your sleeve slid easily (after getting it started) over the piston and ring you can be sure the gap is over the pin.

I know someone who forced it and broke the ring.
I would never do something like that!
Once the gap is lined up, it slides together pretty easy. The sleeve is tapered on the bottom to help get the ring started. When you do it right, it's easy. If it's not going together easy, STOP. You are doing something wrong!

I was just second guessing myself. The sleeve is sliding over the piston easily so the gap must be over the pin.
Thanks for all the help,
Rick
