I visited the Parkes radio telescope at the weekend (it played a part in relaying the moon landing. I had visions of flying the AP Trex up to a couple of hundred feet for a unique shot of this 190 foot dish.
Unfortunately, I should have realised that being a >radio< telescope, there is a total blackout of electronic equipment anywhere near it (even video cameras have to be switched off) What a bummer! I carried the heli and mast 300 miles each way but had to leave them in the RV.
As you can see, it would have been spectacular from the air....
(BTW, there is a nice movie called "The Dish" on its part in the moon landing)
