Just learning to fly and the tail on my Zap 4oo spins anti clockwise from about half throttle up and after adjusting everything i can find the tail rotor doesnt seem to have enough grunt to stop it.The linkages on the tail rotor seem to be at their max when i go full stick giving the blades max angle but it keeps wanting to spin.
Any ideas?

It would be helpful if you told us what kind of radio you are using and the brand of gyro, but with the information given this may help.

One of two possible things could be wrong. First make sure that when you input a tail rotor command that the servo is working in the correct direction. For instance, if you command right tail rotor to the right (rudder stick to the right) the leading edge of the blades should point farther to the left. If they don't reverse the rudder channel. Second, make sure the gyro is commanding in the correct direction. For instance if you displace the heli in the yaw axis the gyro should command the tail rotor servo to make a correction in the opposite direction.

Thanks for the reply.

Futaba 6EXA
RCmart NT*300 PIEZO GYRO.

Had checked that servo is working in right direction with blades pointing the right way for command and had checked that when you move the tail the gyro moves the servo to move the blades the correct way.
Thats why i am stumped. The tail rotor blades look like they are pointing nearly 45 deg in the correct way but its not enough to stop the tail from moving.

I have tried everything i can think of and it is realy starting to bug me,icant even begin the Radds method cause the tail spins too much............... :arggg:

Make sure there is no slippage of the gear on the tail shaft.

Whether its a belt or shaft drive, it sounds suspiciously like the gear is not holding.

just another thing to check....

best of luck!

Yep, had tried that.

At first the cog on the shaft going back to the motor had slipped down the shaft a bit and the cogs were slipping but i have lined them up again and they feel very firm.If i hold the main shaft cog and try to turn the tail rotor it doesnt want to slip at all !

SO. If.......
Tail rotor blades are turning in right "direction" to counteract torque effect.
Gyro is turning blades in right direction
Full power is getting to the rotor blades
Control turns rotor blades in right direction
And even with rotor blades adjusted full pitch for the appropriate diection at no input yet at the controls.......

How come the tail starts spinning before it looks like you are nowhere near at enough power to take off.

Very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Hmmm,

I know you said the gyro was right but I would say that's the only thing left and giving it a flip over or reposition or reverse....what ever....would be worth another try.
