Any more comments regarding the running of G3.5 on a Mac using bootcamp? I am going to be upgrading from an old PC with Windows ME :BSS :lolol... to a Mac  very soon and one of my concerns is ability to run sim. Thanks in advance for any input. Be it positive or negative.

i'll just add that the early rev macbooks (at least mine) does not have the video chipset to support shadows. nothin' i can do about it either. other than that, 3.5 runs like a champ. just a little difficult to hover inverted over the runway...there's no depth perception w/o the shadows.

Since I will be new to the iMac desktop scene would anyone mind giving a brief outline of what is involved with getting the "bootcamp" system? Installing a windows based software so a sim can be run? Looking forward to getting off this old PC. Thanks in advance.

installing bootcamp is pretty easy. just download the application from apple's website (http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/) (~350mb). make sure you have a good backup of ALL your data, since this will be repartitioning your harddrive.
the repartitioning process takes all of about 5 minutes.
then, bootcamp will burn you a disc of hardware drivers so xp will support the apple hardware.
after you reboot your computer, it will come up just like a windows machine. from there, it is no different than installing windows on a new box.
when you're done with the windows install, pop in the CD bootcamp burned for you and you'll be running a true windows machine--for better or worse ;)
to toggle between booting windows and the mac os, simply hold down the option key while booting.

Sounds reasonably easy. Thanks for the help. Just have to come up with Windows XP to run the sim. Don't really want Windows based software for anything else.

Has anyone been successful running RF G3.5 with the virtual Windows software such as Parallels for iMac? I read the thread about re-booting using bootcamp but I would prefer to be able to run it without re-booting. Right now I have problems getting the controller to be recognized.

Right now I have problems getting the controller to be recognized.
that's pretty much the reason you can't use parallels or any other non-rebooting method. the hardware drivers don't exist for the USB controller.

Thanks, maybe newer versions will have that support, until then Boot Camp it is.

I think there are issues with running 3.5 on Vista. It works fine on XP but it must be XP with service pack 2 built in or Bootcamp won't load it

those two statements are a little fuzzy on meaning. are you saying the problem is with vista running 3.5 or with bootcamp running 3.5 on vista?
i do know that the beta of bootcamp only supports XP SP2 (officially anyway). but, if you are running the full version of bootcamp under 10.5 vista is supported. but, if 3.5 has a problem with vista...well, that's vista's problem, not bootcamp's.
