On page 83 of the V1.00 Razor manual, dated 1/30/07 the photo 8A.6.e shows how to wire the speed controller.

It appears this photo is not correct - or at least not correct for 'normal' wiring where the positive lead goes through the horizontal plus connector on the Deans plug.

Wiring exactly like the photo will result in a short across the speed controller (not good). MA is aware of the problem and will put a note in shipping kits, and update the manual.

Anyone buiilding from this version of the manual might also follow the photo and thus create a problem for themselves.

So, be extra cautious while doing this step, and if your batteries are wired in the conventional way, red to plus terminal on the Deans, then you might want to disregard this photo and/or check the web site for an update.

Henry H.

Page 60 and 63 is a bit confusing as well, with the main spindle shims. They mislabled two of them with the same name, then on page 63, they refer to one of them with the name they should have used. To add to the confusion, they included a thicker shim in the kit (which makes everything fit right, so its good).

It was confusing, but with trial and error, I figured out where to put the new thicker shim.

Yes I had the same issue, but resolved it with a call to MA (Who I must say have been very patient and courteous when I needed tech suport).

It's still confusing though. If after assembling the main gear stack the bottom of the white gear drags on the frame, you have not put the shims in proper order.

I had to put the thickest shim on the bottom, the middle thickness in the middle nad the thinnest on top below the colar. Main gear is perfectly centered.

Also, I noticed that photo also, it is definitely reversed polarity. Be careful and double check everything with your electronics always!!

there will be a new version of the manual/reference guide published next week to address these two issues. The polarity issue is addressed in the text on page 83 but the photos will be updated as well

Actually the manual is excellent, and one can readily see it involved lots of intensive work. To have only a couple of small few glitches in a procedure this complicated is certainly commendable.

Agreed! The manual is excellent!!

Even the best reviewed documents will have a few errors.

a new version has been posted effective 2/18 with more clarity around the electrical polarity. The next group of kits shipped will include the updated CD as well.
