I have a 9303 on channel 56 and was wondering if it would work with the hitec electron receiver?. The receiver says negative shift on the front if that means anything. The receiver was given to me , never used and still in the original package. Do I need to use Hitec X'tals with that or will my JR ones work?.

Nope, you need a POSITIVE shift Rx for JR. There are positive shift Electrons.

And Electrons are dual conersion, so you need a dual conversion crystal, most JR crystals are single conversion.
