View Full Version : Deans Micro Plug polarity?

sorry for such a basic question....

my first trial with deans micro plug. im building a trex 600 and changed the receiver battery to a 2cell 3400mah thunderpower, and figured i would put decent connectors on. (and also so i wouldnt accidently plug the tp battery directly into the receiver on the bench, like i do with a 4cell nicad, thereby destroying everything with the high voltage - its about the same size as the 4.8v nicad)

the instructions on the package say the male pin should be the + on the battery, and the female pin is + on the speed control. in my case the "speed control" would be the regulator input.

but the charger cables for sale on the net show the red/male pin being wired to the red/positive. this would seem backwards to the deans instructions, and would have to be reversed to charge. see http://www.grandrc.com/inc/sdetail/47826

no big deal, i can solder them up whichever way, but was wondering what the convention really was just in case im ever at the field and we decide to swap parts/batteries for some reason. dont want to damage anything.

thanks.

I use battery positive to male pin.

And I use red ones for battery packs and black ones for devices that plug into packs. That way I hopefully will not pug a red into red and cause problems. :)

I put batt + to female pin so it wont touch and short something.
