Per page 83 in the Razor instruction manual,
can anyone tell me what specific wire to use - what rating, type, etc.
Thank you,
JH

Do not reverse the polarity like in the picture, that photo will get you in trouble.
I used 10G wire for the jumper to match my CC HV-85, the 10G is actually a little larger than the C wire.

Yes, I read the thread per MAJeff - I used wire slightly thinner, but its rated for serious amps. should be fine.
Hey, can you use the HV-85 without the computer link, just to test out the heli. I am going to order that computer cable link.
Thanks,
Jeff

You can use it without, just follow the directions on the card that comes with it for setup with the throttle
Jeff,
I just got a new cc hv85 a few weeks ago from Tower and there was a note in the package that said;
" Because we are using and upgraded opto isolator circuit, your Castle Link may need to be updated to work with this controller. You can download the latest software at : http://www.castlecreations.com/dowloads.html ".
I'm not sure if this meant that the stick programing would not work. In any case, I downloaded the new 1.55 update (the controller originally had 1.51 on it) and all has worked fine. As an aside, I just got my new cc hv110 esc today (for my Ion-x) and it already had version 1.55 loaded on it (and hence, no note).
Personally, I'd wait for your Castle Link and update your esc before firing it up.
Cheers,

It will work fine with the throttle setting proceedure

Tom, thanks for the input regarding the HV85,
another questions - how does using the jumper cable differ then setting up via the throttle settings - I am still somewhat new to electric and learning the game,
Thanks,
Jeff

Doing it from the radio involves having a good memory, doing it via a computer has everything on the screen for you to see and you can update your f/w versions on the esc
Jeff,
To be honest, I have no idea what this jumper cable you are taling about actually is. I assume that it has something to do with hooking up your battery packs or is it a jumper on the esc for gov mode, or is it the CC link cable?
Personally I'd setup your heli initially with throttle curves to see the kind of hs's you and your power system likes and then try gov mode later. I still prefer curves on all my heli's rather than gov mode, but lots of guys like and use gov mode. Worth trying both to see what you like, but I would still recommend starting off with curves.
Cheers,

The jumper he talked about initially (I think) is to put 2 deans ultras on teh ESC.
Then I think he referrs to the Castle Link cable as a jumper as well.
You have to setup your CC ESC in fixed endpoint mode and calibrate your Throttle Channel ATV's before GOV mode will work at all in some cases and acceptable in others.
If you use the stick programming, I to would do like Tom says nad just fly it in AIR mode and use your TC until you get your Castle Link and can program fully and be able to tweak settings you can't change (as far as I know) with the sticks.
You're a better detective than I am Will!
If MA have put Deans plugs on the esc, that's the first thing I would get rid of. I use 4mm gold bullets on all my large heli's now. Much easier to install and hook up imop and they have ~20 amp higher current rating. If I was starting from scratch, I'd probably go with 5-6mm bullets since the 4mm bullets are a very tight fit for those very large 10G CC esc leads.
If he has a JR or DX7 Tx, he should find that the throttle atv's for the hv85 will need to be ~ -112%, +95%.
Jeff, I hope you've got some local electric guys to help you out a bit. It's a bit hard to do it all over the web imop.
Cheers,
Tom C
