Im new to the forum and also to heli's. Anyway, I'm building a Trex 450SE and had a question inregards to the rear servo, 401 gyro and the DX7 receiver. The connecrtors from the gyro dont fit into the receiver of the DX7, am I missing something or do I have to trim them to fit?
The videos by Finless have been great but I could'nt find any info on this. :arggg:

There is a tab you will have to cut off the Futaba connector in order for it to fit.

Thats what I thought but wasnt sure, thanks for the tip.
Hopefully I'll get 1 or 2 minutes of fly time before i crash.

Welcome schniebw.
Futaba servos have a little tab that fits into a slot on Futaba receivers. You simply trim the tab off for any other Rx.
If this is your first heli then I recommend you consider getting a simulator and practice on that first. FMS is free and ClearView is only $35. Otherwise Phoenix, RealFlight/G3.5 or Reflex/XTR are the market leaders.
Then take a look at RADDs flight training for an excellent 10-step learning to hover program that many folk have found *really* useful: http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html

If you are using an AR7000 RX, there is NO need to take off the tab. While it's a bit difficult to push in it can be done. You can then be assured that the connector will not fall or vibrate out. I've installed all seven channels with my RX with all Futaba servos with the tab.

If you got the DX7 I would HIGHLY reccommend Pheonix. I got it not long ago and it is VERY realistic in flight charecteristics. FMS will do the basics but the usb adapter cable has to be bought. GL your gonna love it!!

Thanks for all the advice, I got the rear servo mounted last night, Now I just have the gyro, tie down the wires set the pitch, I think there are some perameters to set in the radio, I guess its back to the videos. I have the G3.5 and have been trying to hover for a month now, my name should be crash and burn. But I'm getting there. My 8 Year old son is learning all this with me, he's really into the servos and the mechanics of it all. He's learning on a Axe EZ. It's nichael and dimeing me to death, but its cheaper than the 450.
I'll check out Radds 10 steps too, Thanks again for all the advice.
